Am I the only one that thinks Buzzo's looking a lot like Baron Harkonnen?

What do you mean, what exactly are they doing now? When I’ve seen them they didn’t say a word between songs, just played great sets.

I remember seeing them in the mid 90s with cowboy hat dude and thinking that the “serious heavy rock” vibe was pretty comical. It’s all theater. I haven’t seen this recent line up but I suspect I’d be pro McDonald.

Isn't the hair kind of his defining characteristic though?

I'm hoping his holds out, but we all age.

Does anybody remember anything like this? The first set (or two sets) were probably experimental of noise-based although I don't recall the specifics. I think this was around Stag.

Maybe they did this earlier, too, but they for sure did this the two times I saw them in 2000- once in April in Champaign, and again in June in St. Louis. Kevin was on bass and Dave Stone from Get Hustle played second guitar. They were also pulling someone out of the audience to sing for their cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

Did Mac Mann ever tour with them on keyboards too or am I just misremembering my Get Hustle guys?

I found confirmation of the three set Melvins show I saw in 1996: http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.ph ... r_08,_1996

It’s all theater.

well, one could argue that all „heavy rock“ is theatric in a way.

I haven't bought a Melvins record in...mmhh, over 2 decades ?! but do very much enjoy their shows.

Pretty cool extended clip from the documentary with Gene Simmons, including the story of how he ends up playing Going Blind with them on a show they were doing support for Primus. It's 12 minutes plus...

Yes, yes, another dude with incorrect politics and a storied history of inexcusable behavior, I know.
It is possible to talk about somebody without wholesale endorsing their whole political ethos.

It's a cool clip though and a pretty fun story.
Gene Simmons has a deserved rep for only doing things for money, but the whole thing is kind of interesting in that it just seemed like a time he did something just to be magnanimous.

Guaranteed all the Debbie Downers on here are going to have a field day trashing this...maybe you can edit that clip somehow and put a little Tropical Fuck Storm in there somewhere to spice it up a bit?

I'm going to cross post this here, because I think it'll be of interest for some folks.

Buzz is on the latest Protonic Reversal:

Really digs down deep into songwriting stuff, some interesting gear talk and some cool discussion on handmade limited edition stuff and things like that.

He's got a new acoustic record (for people that HATE acoustic records) and this one has Trevor Dunn on stand up bass.

It's here.

Coo. The first acoustic album was pretty good. It was just Buzz riffs on acoustic with singing. Good riffs too. It's cool that Trevor Dunn is on the new one. I really like what he brings to Melvins stuff.
