Completely agree; if there's something cynical about this band and their delivery then it's far, far too sophisticated and subtle for me to spot. They seem extraordinarily committed to the songs, restraint-wise. So great.

Why do the youths wear their guitars so damn high? Or is this a Berklee kid thing?

"Not" is a fucking amazing song, easily the best thing I hear on KEXP all the time right now. Haven't been wowed by anything else, but I think that's more on me than them.

To paraphrase a fellow FM earlier in the thread:

HAVE YOU HEARD MASTERPIECE?

The impact of Dean Ween's Guitar Moves episode on this generation cannot be overstated.

I read somewhere that this guy has a cabin in New Mexico where he writes electronic music when not with the band.

I like a couple of their singles from the first two, but yeah, mostly this. That first record is okay on a whole. The rest I can totally bypass.

Adrianne Lenker is a hell of a songwriter. I think Capacity is my favorite album by them at the moment, but yeah... Lyrics for days, and her melodies are so great at getting their claws in me. Not, Shark Smile, Coma, Cattails, Jenni, Masterpiece, Shoulders... those are some SONGS.

Saw them again last night. The dynamic detail that they play with at the moment is mind blowing; the entire band is acting like an extension of Adrianne's lungs. Also increasingly bringing micro Neil Young-esque guitar drama to massive effect. I love this band. Everybody should see them. :WF: zero

Completely come around on these guys. UFOF was the first one I heard and it just didn't click, other than the outstanding rhythm section. My partner picked up Masterpiece and the one with "Not" on it this week, and we've been listening to them quite a bit. I would love to catch them live.

NOT CRAP, eventually.

this is the best band out there at the moment and for me, it's not particularly close.

fuckin' "Vegas", "Shark Smile", "Cattails"? unassailable, kick you in the face and punch you in the gut songs. genuinely fucking weird. desperate. real.

The more I listen to this band the more they remind me Silkworm. I love them.
