Membership in the DSA, for example, is no longer a black mark on a Google search; it is a respectable middle-class organization where young, educated go-getters can demonstrate their leadership skills, work ethic, and commitment. As such, it attracts downwardly mobile yet aspirational members of the PMC [professional managerial class], who can very easily trade on their participation in an ostensibly socialist organization for the sort of progressive bona fides that get you that corner office.

I haven't read Amber's piece, just this paragraph, and I can confirm that this is going on, at least in DSA chapters I'm familiar with. Literal HR managers, who joined DSA yesterday, inviting themselves to give McKinsey-like presentations to the Executive Board on how they think DSA could do better "leveraging my experience from the many workplaces I have managed." Astounding, ridiculous shit. Non-profit/NGO radlibs everywhere, more interested in networking and having social events than doing any actual outward-facing organizing. It's very concerning.

Amber drama du jour aside, this week's show (368 - High, High Hopes) is an all-timer.

Goofing on Prince Andrew, an informative rundown with an expert on what the fuck is actually happening in Bolivia, then Felix laying out increasingly elaborate ways to commit suicide by cop while doing the Mayor Pete dance.

Exactly what I needed.

This is 100% going on in my DSA chapter as well. It is awful and she is 100% correct about it.

The Amber-obsession is pathological at this point.

How ironic Clyde, I didn't hear of this article until I read your post and then I had to search it out! Bwahaha!

Frost's PMC makes me think of Michael Albert's coordinator class, as outlined in this famous interview performed by a young boy eating pizza.

They took a victory lap on Warren and M4A (mostly Matt), but Will was careful to jump in to say there's still plenty of room on the Bernie Express for people rethinking their Warren support.

"Who even cares anymore" that the co-host of a highly influential podcast went on a right-wing rag to shit on the DSA? Mere months after she went on a different faux-progressive right wing rag with her cryptofascist friend to state that race is meaningless, that we need to capitulate to bigots and make shitty transphobic jokes? Yeah, who fucking cares.

Jesus fucking Christ.

I’m relaxed, thanks for asking a second time, I’m just bewildered at your blatant desperation to sniff Ambers hair manifest into yet another weak defense of her based on absolutely nothing.

also to be quite clear i dont give a fat fuck about amber being a moron and appearing on whatever right wing rag shes on this time, ive come to expect it, i just find your toothless defenses of her (lol remember when you tried to use idpol to defend her trashing of idpol??) combined with implying those rightfully angry are crazy or “pathological” to be utterly tasteless

OK, Amber.

The editor of American Affairs is the kind of Harvard hedge fund creep Chapo would normally eviscerate, but in this case he's Amber's collaborator.

Not sure how publishing in American Affairs jibes with the old school working-class solidarity Amber claims to celebrate, but presumably it pays better than Jacobin or The Baffler.

Just remember Amber was the one that was the most vociferous hosts during the UK tour shows attacking the utter ludicrousness of Spiked and Toby Young... as soon as she got back she was taking Spiked and therefore David (RIH) & Charles Koch's money.

Never forget that. Just to be clear.
Amber
took
Koch
money.

That happened.

She's been absent from the show (mostly) for a while and it has improved because of that.

One of the funniest things on Chapo is when they call someone out for an anecdote that never happened, wouldn't you agree?

I thought the ladder-climbing "corner office" bit sounded ridiculous, but if what you two see in your chapters (care to enlighten us which ones they are?) is representative, then she's addressing a real phenomenon and I stand corrected there. It's nonetheless odd to condemn the DSA's class politics in a rightwing magazine edited by an Ivy League hedge fund capitalist.
