Yeah man, it sounds like a cup of paint water.

I am the first guy to make excuses for a Claypool thing, but fuck this.

It's certainly bad on its own. But, in addition, it highlights the lack of live sound guys that are anything but rock-n-roll button pushers. The guy mixing this had no idea of PAG/NAG and what methods could get him the right gain-before-feedback to make these instruments cut through.

Indeed it does! You know, your arrogance usually takes this form of telling everyone what is and isn't worth discussing. You're so full of yourself that you'll appear in a page-long conversation to decree that everyone's wasting their time. Here you finally got a taste of your own medicine, and you don't have a thing to say.

P.S. hi Mason

You're telling me. I am filled with regret thinking of your...wow, thousands, at this point, of inspired posts, and exemplary use of the search function. And now I've turned into the thread police. Ugh.

Personally, I think this kind of interpersonal bickering is one of the most unfortunately persistent shitty features that bog this forum down, but maybe my arrogance doesn't let me see how this is actually better than talking about music and good stuff in general.

I actually went back six pages / a few months in a row of my own posts to see if there was some kind of perspective to be gained from this and, other than art-related posts, what I could find going as far back as october was a sarcastic comment about the interest in the Pitchfork 200 list and a post expressing a dislike for people ganging up on the FM who decided to bump a bunch of Fall threads at once.

Keep it up. This kind of bullshit is sorely needed should we risk running short of, well, more bullshit.

I remember the first time I bothered to check out a Rush album was because Voivod cited them among their main influences. Wow. This explains that crap factor in Voivod's music :P
I liked Primus a lot in my youth. Now I still hold a fondness for some of theor songs although I rarely re-listen to them.

There are definitely some times I want to hear someone go nuts on their rock instrument, and some Tim Alexander drums or Les Claypool bass scratch this occasional itch. Rush doesn't really do that, but I enjoy some of their songs on a regular, song-type level. They don't seem so outlandish to me. I say Rush.

FM Bernardo, I appreciate your effortful response to my comment, which was more than it deserved, but for my part I miss the more antagonistic forum. Many of the hardest yuks of the past 17 years came from bickering. Not that I was trying to synthesize that with my flaming.

Ah... it was never just about the music and good stuff, Bernardo. That's why so few former participants continue to engage.

I went with Rush. Even though I'm not a big fan, I really like 'Subdivisions' and 'YYZ'. Neil Peart was a damned good drummer.

I strangely never got into Primus, even though I tend to like stuff that has a goofy/warped sense of humor (Ween, early Beck, etc). They have a song called 'Poetry and Prose' on The Beavis and Butthead Experience that I always enjoyed. That and the video for 'Jerry Was A Racecar Driver' is about it.
- "Whatever happened to that album?"
- "I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall, and it like, shattered."

You certainly do. A very special young man now wants to eat a bratwurst with you on a roof in a bad neighborhood.

Seriously, remembering "I bet I hand you a gold bar..." has been making me laugh lately.

I think I also prefer Rush's overseriousness, which makes for some unintentional humor, over Primus's wackadoo aesthetic. I'll have my tedium from the serious, not the corny. Accordingly I like Primus best when they're less jokey. "Tommy the Cat" over "Wynona," basically.
