Not really a band, but I had a day off work and I made a thing.

the first i did was a short lived band i started w/ scott & erik from Tetsuo/Ghosts and Vodka/American Heritage a few years ago. we wanted to be proggy, but i think it sounds more like Deep Purple. Our keyboard player was badass. Heavy riffage though:

Re: Listen to each others bands - PRINCESS (sorry Mr Albini)

Postby PRINCESS of ALDERSHOT on Tue Dec 05, 2017 7:23 pm

For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to put a 'fake ad' at the top of our new song FUSE.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Of course, any likeness to any of the characters to any persons, dead or alive, is purely co-incidental. Either way, we apologise.

We formed a couple of years ago. I was talking with my pal Jamie Lenman (you should check him out...he's proper good..like for real) just when we started. Without knowing about the band, he turned to me in his kitchen and said "you know what I fucking hate? its when old guys decide to start a band.." I had to fess up. We recorded an initial demo - not knowing at all what we were doing. This song is from a new EP - utterly self recorded and self produced...which sounds grand...because all we really did was do what we needed to do to make it happen.

Hope you might like...a little

And why the hell not. Whilst I will always listen to somebody elses opinion on something, I don't always have to agree with it or come into line on their thinking on it. And if the fire is still burning...
PLUS - there's MASSIVE advantages to doing this when you're older - its a totally different game...we look at all the younger guys around us - and we're surrounded by them, and they invest so much hope in a career and success...for us, our relationship with the music seems clearer. Nothing stupid about it!!!

See my reply to the previous post :D
Our very first gig, a couple of years ago was a preview gig for friends and family - we were pretty nervous and self conscious about what we were trying to do - but thought 'what the hell...we need to do this'. Our families are generous and gracious in their support (and sometimes will admit to thinking it's a bit cool), but at that preview gig we invited a good friend of ours who runs a local arts centre - who sees so many bands come through their doors. His comment was that he heard and saw something in us that had an energy about it - nothing jaded...no weariness...and I think it's that - it doesn't matter what age you are (in my opinion) if you've got something to say, a noise inside your head you still need to get out...then you do it. That's it.

I think it's also interesting that 'older' guys tend to have more to sing/write about..more to say, and more experience in tying it to a creative approach.

Also...(final point :D) when we first got together, we had crazy arguments about all sorts of shit that very nearly made us jack it all it. With families, with life, we were choosing to make this work. Soooo many young bands hit the first big hurdle and jack it in...there's something about doing this at this stage of life that makes the motivation, and the desire to push through issues, much more straight forward.

My long-delayed solo album that was done a while ago has finally been released.

No screaming, no noise rock, nothing like that at all is on this. Tunes, some things that could be construed as singing and a lot of guitars is what you will find here. Whether it's good or not is up to you to decide, but I put a lot of myself into it and I do hope you like it.

It was made with FM Kyle Motor, and would never have been made without him. It was mastered by FM goosman.

If you'd like, give it a listen.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

In the someday, what's that sound.

In the last few days I did something I've always thought of doing but never just went ahead with before, which is to come up with a short song (or something similar), record it, mix it and release it within a few hours. We enjoyed the results enough that we repeated the experience two days later.

This was our goodbye 2017 track, done december 30th, we came in the studio with a bare concept for the chorus and it was online less than two hours later:

This is our welcome 2018 song, done january 1st, we didn't have anything going in for this one. The plan was to do something krautrock-y, but we were listening to Chrome right before we went in, so this is what came out:
