Sold Less Than Gold was partially inspired by Gender Bender's trip to Iran. According to her, "the song was written with women from the Middle East in mind - women that were being sold from their family to strangers. Being raped and mutilated."It's about "women (...) sold into marriages or into sex slavery and how resilient their spirits are.”

that (appealing to the oppressor) and this (appealing to the oppressed)

Drab Majesty - Completely Careless (CD) 2012-2015

Disappears - Low: Live in Chicago (CS). Missed the release and found one on Discogs. Overpaid a bit, but wanted a physical copy. There is only one band that I would trust with this.

The way she sings that song (in a very childlike voice) is pure genius, methinks.

I am tempted to call "The Hitch Hiker" "Diane: Part II" though...

I think I like this album more than the last one, so far (and I liked the last one a lot, though I don't listen to it often, it's kind of a downer, I have to be in the right mood). Looks like I'm going to be hating everything I've ever written again for another six months or so, I think...

Bob's album (recorded at EA) is ab-fab also, I might add. God, it just sounds so good. The guitars are just so thick, but never muddy... probably some of the heaviest riffs I've heard from Bob in a while. Brilliant.

The last vinyl record I bought was Carers' "...it's eternity, Ester" / Easter 12", by mail order from bleep.com last summer. Last night I bought a bunch of music by PRFers via Bandcamp, and more is to come. 'Tis the season!
