Oh, and anyone else I met at the BBQ, holler at me if and when you visit Minneapolis. You all seem like totally cool people as individuals, and you put on an incredible event. Thank you!

Thank you, welbutrin, for the help and medical care you provide for the sick and injured animals I find outside. Your expertise and affordable care for these animals is invaluable and I cannot thank you enough. You help us help more. I am so grateful.

Thank you, Gramsci, for recommending Richard Sennet's The Fall of Public Man some while ago. Your recommendation, as well as the conversation it sprung from, sent me down a rabbithole like nothing else. I will never look at buildings the same way.

Took one of the hacker dudes from InfoSec to lunch at the taqueria, today. Had a good time, stopped to kick the tires on a used Honda on the way back to work. We've known each other for a while. He's a younger dude, going through some of that late-20s stuff, has struggled with social anxiety and some depression. Wicked smart guy, though.

Out of nowhere, he asks me "So, have you always just not given a fuck?"

I was a bit flummoxed. "You mean, in a bad way?" I thought "Oh, god, my cover is so blown."

"No, no, not at all. I mean, shit just doesn't seem to bother you. You just seem so chill."

I thought about it for a minute, and said "Man, after working at a startup that failed, having my mom die of cancer, and having to fight to keep my kid, all in the same year, now I just feel like, unless someone is dying, I can count on things turning out mostly ok."

That's due in no small part to the PRF, btw. I haven't forgotten how much you guys did to protect us in that adoption battle, both with contributions to our legal fund, but also all the late-night "What the fuck am I going to do if they take her?" sos calls to my best dudes on this board. You guys know who you are.

Thanks. You've made me seem "chill" to the hacker dudez. No small feat.

bishopdante: You remind me of this guy I used to know. Two guys in fact. One is a tech-geek and a workhorse, a fast and voluminous talker seemingly able to jump into a conversation on any subject with mountains of information, like when four other people have one or two areas each they focus their attention and interest on, he sounds like he has all of those at ones.

The other is a guy who at age 25 already seemed like he had accumulated two lifetimes of experience.

You bring something interesting to every thread you participate in. Delving beneath the surface, piecing things together, pointing things out that make me go "yeah, hadn't thought of that". You entertain some pretty far out thinking, which I appreciate, but you rarely stray outside of reason, from my perspective at least.

Quality posting, mate. Keep it up.

Mr Etch for sending me humbuckers across the sea, and all the rest of the comrades currently immersed in shock, anger and pain.

This is well overdue. But it's occurred to me often enough to have it come up in conversation a couple times. So, I'm sharing.

Back in September at the Hideout Block Party/Electrical Anniversary Party I was ecstatic about all the raw female talent of all ages walking around. Georgia, Shannon Wright, Marissa P., Nina Nastasia, Janet BB, Tara Key, etc. Usually it's not something that I tend to take note of usually but it felt pretty rich at this event. I tried to remember the last time I saw so many female musicians collectively killing it on stage. Then it hit me. Oh yeah! It was the Shellac 20th anniversary shows at Lincoln Hall! Those shows included Nina Nastasia, Helen Money, Scrawl, Shannon Wright. I may be forgetting someone here.

I just want to thank Steve for being an active supporter of all manner of dynamic female performers. You never call attention to it. It's just completely par for the course. Thanks for that! It means a lot!

Passing along some love to FM Matt Attack and Christopher McGarvey for hosting our show at Flicker in Athens. Got to hang out with several PRF south folks and it was really fun. A reminder of how wonderful this group of people truly are and how fun shows can be when everyone has such an excellent attitude. Salut friends!
