Great annual piece on the draft at baseball prospectus doing a mock draft if teams drafted solely on name quality. This is a deep draft. Noah Song can be had at #26.

You guys. There's a draftable player out there named Owen Sharts.

The 11-year-old pitcher facing my son’s little league team this past weekend was named Tweeter Santiago. I’ll expect to see that kid in The Show one day.

I feel someone with the White Sox reads this post. Here are four of the players the Sox have drafted this year:

Nick Madrigal
Steele Walker
Konor Pilkington
Gunnar Troutwine

I like Astros pick Seth Beer. Not as awesome as a Sharts or a Troutwine but it makes me wish the Brewers' Rob Deer has been named Beer instead. Bobby Beer on the Brews would have been a legend.

The Oakland Athletics have a hot pitching prospect named Jesus Luzardo.

The nerds over at the Athletics Nation blog have given him the nickname The Jesus Lizard (or it may have come from Baseball Prospectus, not sure).

Maybe hitters should use aluminum bats when they face him.

Another amazing name discovered at a Texas little league tournament this past weekend -- 11-year-old kid named Maui Rivera.

Also, because they're my team: Pittsburgh Pirates' 6' 8", 230 lb. prospect Oddy Nunez.
