KWC were incredible last night. I wondered if they could pull those vocals off that they got on the record, and they absolutely smashed it. Really glad I finally got to see them.

Pile at Corsica Studios (Elephant) this Wednesday is not to be missed. Rick told me the last show they played in London might be the best show they've ever played. They are on fire this tour.

The event page says 19:30-23:00; what time do shows usually wrap up in London?

Hey folks, will be back to London next week, looking for a sublet-private room in the city, mid/late september, maybe some of you guys know someone that could be subletting? Otherwise I'll be hitting Airbnb!

All right!

Sorry, I don't have a gig to share. I'm in London for a week from Friday onwards and thought someone here might know of something intensely heavy going on somewhere. Or at least know of a good gig guide that'll make such knowledge transpire, without making my weak computer crash like the Time Out one does. Help ma boab.

Oh sweet! Make sure to say hello!

It's worth checking different venues-
The Birds Nest in Deptford, New River Studios, DIY Space for London, pubs in New Cross (Amersham Arms, New X Inn, Montague Arms).

Birds Nest have this on tonight for example- https://www.facebook.com/events/1496139 ... story=null
No idea if it's any cop, but it's free and will no doubt be loud! The Nest is an institution and worth a visit. There's some other good stuff nearby- Deptford Cinema- an excellent volunteer run cinema, Full Nelson is a really solid Veg/Vegan junk food place and Vinyl which is a great record shop.

I'm trying to go on FB less, so I'm also trying to work out how the fuck people find out about gigs outside of it. This list is a bit SE-centric as that's my default- I'm sure there are still loads of other places.

Oh, T-Chances usually have something going. That's a great divey punk venue in Tottenham. Cafe Oto is always interesting.

I'll try and think of some more. Over the last 5 years or so there has been an all out assault on 'underground' culture in London, and loads of venues have closed. Space is the only real commodity in this city and it is worth billions.

I'd say the campaign has been the last 35 years, to be honest.

Ever since the credit crunch it has been getting very weird, and certainly the past 5 years we have seen the process become severe.

The next step is the attempt to abolish / sell off all the social housing.

A big change happened when squatting was criminalised in 2012.

The property inflation game and the rule of billionaires & hedge funds is a global phenomenon, and the attrition is happening everywhere, but London has got it bad - being that in the globalisation picture London is branded as an exclusive place for the internationally rich to park their money (as property) and access various dodgy tax havens.

The wealth held by the world's billionaires jumped by nearly $1 trillion in 2016 (approx 17%), according to a report by UBS and PwC.
They now have more money than the GDP of Germany or Japan.
"One of the painful things about our time is that those who feel certainty are stupid, and those with any imagination and understanding are filled with doubt and indecision." - Bertrand Russell
