In 2000, Al Stewart released Down in the Cellar, a concept album themed on wine. Stewart had begun a love affair with wine in the 1970s when, he admitted, he had more money than he knew how to spend, and so turned to fine wines.

Ian Curtis of Joy Division not only voted Conservative in 1979 but persuaded the Liberal candidate to give him a lift to the polling station in order to do so

Sometimes it takes a long time to reach a beginning. Like a novel with an incredibly long preface, Ghost Town Cinema has certainly been no exception. The story here is one characterized almost entirely by the patience of its writers. Unwilling to settle for any of the slightly less-than suitable names that had originally been conjured... the band found itself writing and rehearsing for a full year, and then performing for another before accidentally stumbling upon "the one".

After two years of building the flesh and skeletal structure of the group as a three piece, the name appeared... and with it came two new members, completing the puzzle and injecting a kind of spirit into the music that it had been lacking. Songs that were once simple, introspective yet uplifting indie pop numbers took on a new life. Some of them slowed down just enough to give the vocal a space to explore melodic dimensions that were once unfamiliar. Some of them opened up with a few added flavors; others stripped down to a bare minimum allowing the contrast to widen. Most importantly, the band became a powerful trio of songwriters with a seasoned rhythm section... all equally in awe of each other's work and excited to create something beautiful together.

Now the band finds itself at a turning point. The songs exist. The parts flow. Countless hours were spent discovering and fine tuning a unique sound that doesn't only sound good, but feels good as well. Finally the band is ready to make the story accessible to the world. Taking full advantage of the 15 years of experience singer/guitarist Daniel Braun has accumulated in the studio producing other artists... Ghost Town Cinema's first release will be entirely self produced.

Taken from the Moonshine Bandits' press for their new record Blacked Out:
As for those who still harbor doubts about MSB’s joyful demolition of musical boundaries, Bird says “I’d like to invite them to come out to a live show and see what we’re actually about, to be a part of our Shiner Nation fanbase. I believe it could instantaneously change their lives.”

But first, give Blacked Out a couple of spins. Even if you never make it out the door to that “party on the river down the old dirt road” (“Top Off the Tank”), with your “rebel flag whipping like a lasso” (“Lasso”) and some “half-charred ribs on a rack” (“Out Back”), the music of Moonshine Bandits is enough to take you there.

Nine Days:

The band's pianist, Jeremy Dean, explains why Slow Motion Life was made into two separate projects in an interview with AlternativeAddiction.com. "“The name of the EP is Slow Motion Life (Part One), that means that there is going to be a part two, what we basically did is recorded a full album in two parts. The reason we did this is because it allowed us to A) to get some new music out to the people, and B) it allows us to get some money back to record the second half even better than the first half.”

Alien Ant Farm is an American rock band that formed in Riverside, California, United States, in 1995. Their name comes from an idea original guitarist Terry Corso had about aliens and the Earth: "it was just my daydream about our planet being seeded by entities from other dimensions."
I'm just trying to be a better person. My name is Brock.

Nikki Sixx's Archive of Cock'n'Balls
-Nikki Sixx described in an interview the origins of the album, beginning with a jam session with guitarist Dave Darling of the band Boxing Gandhis: "One day we were sitting around; he had this hip-hop loop up, and I was playing this glamrock riff; and he goes, 'Wow, that's really fucked up. You hear how that sounds together?' I said, 'Yeah, it's horrible, huh?' So we started to roll tape." So we recorded "Diet For A New America" and the industry has changed ever since.

-"Nikki Sixx formed Brides of Destruction with L.A. Guns guitarist Tracii Guns, initially with the name Cockstar, after Mötley Crüe went on hiatus in 2001."

-"They were advised by radio programmers that the name Cockstar wouldn't be announced on air, so they briefly used the moniker Motordog."

-"The Gibson Blackbird was for all intents and purposes a standard Thunderbird bass, but with a satin black finish, Iron Crosses on the fretboard instead of dots, an Iron Cross behind the classic Thunderbird logo, and Nikki Sixx's 'opti-grab' (a metal loop installed behind the bridge for hooking the little finger onto while playing)"

WHAT is Foreigner up to lately?

Wikipedia wrote:On January 9, 2013, the band's original drummer, Dennis Elliott, joined Foreigner on stage at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, Florida to play on "Hot Blooded".

In addition to touring small clubs and venues, the band frequently is engaged for private parties and conventions, including playing at SeaWorld in Orlando for an IBM Rational Conference (June 6, 2012), at the Gaylord convention center in Washington, DC for the Teradata Partners 2012 conference (October 25, 2012) and at SAP's Field Kickoff Meeting in Las Vegas (January 23, 2013).

No, no, that's ancient history. What has Foreginer been up to lately?

Wikipedia wrote:Jones has missed numerous performances in recent years, due to health. The band has thus consisted entirely of replacement musicians, none of whom performed on the original versions of any of songs in the band's live repertoire.

Not really "shit band trivia", but I discovered today that not only does a Wikipedia article for the 50-second Beatles song "Dig It" exist, but it is more substantive than the entire articles for albums such as The Modern Dance or Dub Housing.

GTR toured North America and Europe in 1986. Live rehearsals revealed that the band's "no keyboards" method did not work in concert due to the poor tracking qualities of the guitar synthesizers, and therefore the tour featured keyboard player Matt Clifford in the GTR lineup in order to recreate the studio sound. Songs in the setlist included Genesis and Yes material as well as songs from Hackett and Howe's solo albums. Howe, Hackett and Bacon also appeared as guest VJs on MTV's "Guest VJ Hour" in the summer.

The history of FireHouse can be traced back to 1984, when Leverty's band White Heat needed a drummer. After over 20 auditions, current FireHouse drummer Michael Foster answered the ad and when Leverty was impressed by his skill, he quickly hired him. When the band wasn't on tour, Leverty and Foster would visit rock clubs, and it was at one of these clubs where they caught sight of a band called Maxx Warrior.[1] Singing for the band was C. J. Snare, and the band's bassist was Perry Richardson. Leverty and Foster were impressed with Snare's vocal ability, and became determined to unite the bands.[1] As soon as Maxx Warrior broke up, Leverty sent Snare some of his songs and asked him to sing on his tape. Foster and Leverty were again impressed, so they brought Snare in to be the band's lead singer for a show in Virginia several weeks later.[1]

Now I must check if Maxx Warrior has a wiki entry.

It's impressive. Presumably when the band were writing their own wiki entry, their thesaurus had the "impressed" page missing.
