Hello,

I am selling a bunch of stuff. It’s all good stuff, with defects duly noted. I will go to eBay if I must, but I’d rather sell to the kind people of this forum. Anyone in Chicago gets preferential treatment, but I’ll sell to anyone, pretty much. It’s mostly stuff that I have used for recording and just don’t play enough to keep around.

OK, here’s what I am letting go:

Ovation Magnum I (1980ish). Favored by Jamaicans and Jah Wobble. The Magnums are real nice basses, and the Magnum I is the best of the bunch, and this is a very nice Magnum I. The massive custom neck pickup sounds truly great. It has more low end than any other pickup I have heard. The bridge pickup is nice and bright. Has the little mute slider thing on the bridge, which is cool, esp. w/the deep neck pickup. Stereo or mono output through the dual output jacks. Graphite-reinforced neck is eminently playable. In excellent shape with original case. It looks super cool, and it's a steal at $500.

Ampeg V4 head (1968ish). The V4 is my favorite amp in the universe, but I have too many of them. This one works fine, but I haven’t done any work on it. It may need some elementary maintenance (caps, cleaning, etc.). The V4 is basically a 100W version of the SVT, with a preamp that is suitable for either guitar or bass. Selectable midrange control, “ultra-highâ€

Thank you again for the double bass! I am loving it every day (and part of every night). I hopefully get the new adjustable bridge this week.

Did you sell the Sytek?

YOU BOUGHT IT?!?!?!?

I am hurt, man, really. That bass was my #1 excuse for a trip to Chicago, and more importantly, trips to Hot Doug's and Irazu.

I missed an oatmeal shake and a Howard Devoto/Steve Diggle thanks to you. I don't know if I'll be able to drink myself to sleep tonight knowing this.

I was playing Payday last night and pulled this card:

Payday said:
You get enough money to ask tmidgett about his 8 track

So that's what I'm doing. Still for sale?

re: the V4...

negative feedback! buyers beware! man, it's been so many months now, i don't know how i never mentioned how this all went down...

i showed up at the arranged location, with cash, having followed tim's weird instructions to "bring $300 in hundreds, $300 in fifties, and $300 in twenties, just so i can pick which form of currency i prefer in the moment." i showed up with the cash, and was promptly beaten to a pulp by six guys with lead pipes. they took all of my money, took my shoes, and then laughed at me hysterically for about a minute and a half while pointing at one of my socks which had a hole in it. of course i was crying after being beaten, but i cried even harder from the ridicule. then, one of them produced the V4 and promptly dropped it on my foot. needless to say, my foot was broken in forty eight places, and to this day i cannot walk properly. on the upside though, the amp was undamaged and works wonderfully. my electronic bagpipes have never sounded cooler. i think at least two of those six bastards were tim midgett, though one can never be sure.

also, A++, tim is the shizzle.

While there's stuff for sale, here's a longshot: is anyone looking for gold-plated tuners for an Ovation guitar? I picked them up some years ago because they were on sale and I needed tuners for another project, but I didn't know that the heads of Ovation guitars are thinner than other heads. PM if by some remote chance this is something you're looking for.
