Postby caix on Tue Oct 12, 2010 1:52 am

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you www.prfbbq.com.

This is a work in progress. We finally got it launched tonight. We've got a lot of things in store. For now, we're only supporting Auktoberfest with some barebones stuff. But soon, we will be supporting all kinds of PRF BBQs and events.

Please stay tuned for more updates!

Shouldn't the events run Thursday 14th-Saturday 16th?

Otherwise, I love the martyred sausage.

I can't believe V&A are playing the fest on Saturday now when we went to SUCH LENGTHS to get them on our Cactus Club show that night. SUCH LENGTHS!

On the other hand, sweet, i can see Zoom and Big'n now!

Aw come on, I put that "I keed" part in there, to denote that I was just joking with him. Maybe I should have put "But seriously, hey, you're alright!"

Also, YOU must hate Mat, because you can't even spell his name correctly.

Sorry, guys. I was up late doing this. I'll make corrections. This site is kinda limping along right now, but we're going to make bug fixes and the like this week and next.

I'm waiting on more martyr images. The CMS is a little buggy. I've got more features to add.

I believe BRW's vision of this site was to be the one spot to get all the BBQ info, instead of being buried on the forum. One thing I've got in the works is share links and human-readable URLS so we can easily share information on this site in various places.

I would consider this site in it's current stage in "QA Mode." If you can do me a favor, please report any bugs you see. I know this may seem like a simple, two-page site, but it's got a database and a content management system for admins to set up events and will also be an archive for past events (at some point, I'll collect the info from the last two BBQs and add them in). I was hoping to have it done by this weekend, but I think it'll be "officially" out of QA next week.

I took the times off of the facebook page. Which page is the most up-to-date?

I'd go off the information here. Also, as noted above, you've got the dates off by a day. It's thurs thru sat.

Yeah, I noticed the days are off. Like I said, the CMS is a little buggy. It doesn't seem to be saving the date when I change it (same goes for the venues). I'll be working on this tonight.

Just out of curiosity - what is the CMS you are using? Maybe a quick fix would be to change the dates manually in the DB (I'm assuming it's using MySQL).

Yeah, seriously. Thanks a ton.

I want this site to do two things, actually.

One, I want it to provide a central location for all BBQ information. Here's the basic idea:

Crazy Fool: "Hey, I'm having trouble getting information on the event and I'd--"
Brad W.: "prfbbq.com."

Two, I want it to be a photobook of our faces and antics at various BBQs over the years. My longer term idea is to have a dedicated page for each band that has played it (with video, sound, photos), but that's a ways off. Just think of the great "scene" books and documentaries that you've seen. Kind of like a digital version of that (e.g., "Jesus H., Trophy Wives fucking killed."). I think that it's pretty critical that we document this shit exhaustively, and use these works to overwhelm the culture with the sheer volume of our output.

Hats off to Mat & Co. They've put some serious work into this bitch, and really only because I suggested it. Incredible. They'll keep working on it, but it's great to know that we'll have this as a resource going forward.
