Oh man, I'm a nerd -- when Police Teeth is out there in June, I totally wanna go to the Muhammad Ali Center, or go see the house he grew up in. Have you been there, Elliott? Is it worth checking out?

Next year I'm going to need a little more advance notice. I've always wanted to attend a Louisville Derby Weekend.

Do it Liz! Bring a crew. I have a HUGE apartment that could easily fit about 40 PRF'rs.

Be on the lookout for an upcoming PRF BBQ: Kentucky Derby 2012 thread next year around this time.

Let's definitely do it! I can't believe I've missed out on Derby weekend all these years!

Col. and I are interested. He's talked about bringing his mom to Churchill Downs for the Derby.

Can't say she would like the PRF BBQ music....

Thinking of going to on the tour of the Maker's distillery in June. Elliott said it's a good time, though I'm not too into Maker's overall. Also, it seem like the closest distillery to the Louisville metro area, and I don't wanna drive too far out of town.

Any other distilleries within 10 miles or so of Louisville, or on the way between Chicago and Louisville I could check out?

Also remembered that Buffalo Trace is only a scant 20-30 minutes south of the Louisville metro area. I personally have not been there but I would imagine that you get a shit ton free shwag that has cool buffalos on it.

I'm not a huge Maker's fan either, but if you make it out to Bardstown, their tour is one of the best.

But for my money, I really like Four Roses. It's a criminally overlooked bourbon in my opinion, and their distillery tour is cool. Also, I've always gotten samples of actual bourbon there, whereas every visit to Maker's concludes with a tasty but disappointing bourbon ball candy. It's about an hour from Louisville proper, but if you get the chance, check it out.

Went to Louisville this past weekend and stopped by Holy Grale, or "The Beer Church". Fun place, and definitely worth a stop for beer nerds. The quail Scotch eggs and bratwurst were top notch as well.

Superking and I are doing a Southern drivey trip in September. We will spend a day or two in Louisville. This thread has some great food suggestions--any cool, nice hotels in walking neighborhoods you locals could recommend?

After Louisville, we're heading to Smokey Mountains. Also interested in any state parks we shouldn't miss.

Thanks!

If you're headed down to the Smokeys, there's no one better to contact than syntaxfree07. Have a good time all of the time.

Also, there are multiple ways to spell "Smoky Mountains".

Brett Eugene Ralph's Kentucky Chrome Revue will be returning to the stage on Saturday, Nov. 26, at Louisville's Rudyard Kipling Cafe. This will be the band's first show since the June PRF BBQ and its first Louisville appearance in almost a year and a half.

For this show, the Revue will feature the same line-up that played Chicago, plus two additional members:

Van Campbell: drums, vocals
Jamie Daniels Colvin: violin, vocals
Justin Davis: bass guitar, vocals
Colleen Doyle: vocals, percussion
Mark "Lupe" Hamilton: lead guitar
Pat McClimans: slide guitar
Brett Eugene Ralph: vocals, rhythm guitar

Thanks for the heads up on the show, Brett! I'll try to be there (though I'll probably be coming straight from work).

Thanks, Ben. I'm consistently blown away by the caliber of musicians willing to play with me.

Hey there - did you end up going? If so, what'd you think?

I think a fair amount of my time was wasted by having to deal with Jon Cook, unfortunately. Sebadoh sounded okay, but I didn't really get to focus on them at all.

Ah - yeah they were fun I thought. It was funny, my attention would fade and then they'd mix it up and bring me back around again. I got a chance to talk to Lou "Hey man, remember that time 15 years ago..." kind of stuff. It was an alright night.
