Is that any good? Evil Dead-reboot good, or good-good?

Saw this over the weekend. I came out of it liking it, and the more I think about it the deeper my appreciation grows--along with its creep factor.

Still need to see Spring.

Agreed.

I felt like this film worked far more than some of the other "Let's Start This Franchise Over!" films that came out around the same time.

What's up with A Quiet Place? I almost want to see it, but a guy almost gave the whole thing away by telling me what his friend saw, I hate spoilers, should I see it anyway?

Yes. Millicent Simmonds, the young actress who plays "Regan" acts goodly. Additionally, the monster/alien aspect of the movie is interesting, but what elevates A Quiet Place is watching how this family handles grief, rejection, and loss.

My buddy worked on the Dread Central Present release of "Terrifier", I went in hoping for 80s slasher fun, but walked away bored and disappointed. Some good practical effects, but really amateur-ish direction and editing. Might be of interest if you are into the killer clown sub-genre.

Keep your eyes peeled for a movie called "Primal Rage" it is a really rad bigfoot movie. I saw it at a festival. The first 15 min are rough, but after that it gets really good. Finally someone had the good sense to make a bigfoot movie crossed with The Predator. I mean, the bigfoot uses weapons! Characters are not super likable, but all the bigfoot action is super good.

Hounds of Love was really good, it hit me really hard and the ending made me cry. Not super pleasant or fun, but the acting is amazing, directed with style, and great use of sound.

The Lodgers is a really cool gothic ghost story, that just oozes atmosphere and I actually felt damp after the screening.

The Endless was awesome and in my top 3 of the year so far.

I do not know what this is but I'd be remiss if I didn't take note of your issue with Starry Eyes. Hopefully the songs, both by The Records and the Crüe, fare higher in your world, sir.

It's Criticker filtered by genre.

5 is an okay rating, I think. Maybe I saw it with too-high expectations.

I went in blind AF and was all the better for it. Repulsive, but with a great story.

According to your ratings I should be happy that I blew-off Happy Death Day. Might visit it further down the line. Big fan of Train to Busan, though, and has a mild interest in The Belko Experiment.

EDIT: If you'd like to see a pretty great virus/zombie flick, then check out Pontypool if you haven't already. Go in blind af.

^I liked Pontypool. The first page only went halfway through 2014. There's more pages but I don't want to shit up the thread with screencaps and I can't work out how to share my profile with a direct link.

Criticker had a lot of missing films until a couple of years ago, and I don't remember to rate everything anyway. I did see the original, and I liked it, but not enough that I thought it would survive the diminishing returns of a remake. Looks like they've reinvented it. I will give it a go.

Agreed. I really enjoyed We Are What We Are the first time around, and the remake doesn't look too bad.

Found this one minute short on Reddit a couple of years ago, and then promptly forgot what the title was. Very glad to have stumbled across it again.
