Angus Jung,
I'm pretty sure you're not a FB dude, so this may not be on yout radar. A local record store just got your new record in (here in kalamazoo), and they love it. Here's what my buddy Sean wrote. He's in a long-running freakout group called Forget The Times. Like-minded folks, I think.

At my job, people almost never ask me "Sean, what's the hot shit right now? What records have come out that I need to buy and have missed?" It's too bad they don't ask me this, because I've got some really good answers. One of them is this beautiful slab of wax right here:
https://soundcloud.com/troubleinmind/sets/alto-lp3

It's a new record from a Portland, OR trio called Alto! It's their third release (thus the name LP3) and came out today on Trouble In Mind Records. The band consists of a guitarist and two drummers. The music is wonderfully exploratory and draws influence from Afrobeat, Psych Rock, Stoner Metal, Noise, Krautrock and other World Music genres. LP3 is a sonic treat from start to finish and is one of the more unique records I've heard in a while. This is an essential pick for fans of Sun City Girls, Oneida, Bardo Pond or Acid Mothers Temple.

Tremendous band. Three drummers. Two tear the shit out of drumkits, one plays this weird shoulder-slung drum with horns and a neck and strings on it, blurting hardass ring-modulated gamelanesque chime sounds plus a gamut of other sick and surprising shit. Top notch!

(Sorry for ghosting. Brutally tired, up from real early hours.)

What a great set, topped only by how happy I was to see Captain Jung.

Hey, we are doing another remix thing like we did a couple years back with our first album.

Here is a link to the track stems for our song "Piece 14" off our new record.

Hear the original track here.

Anyone who does a remix will have their track on our Bandcamp page.

We got some really great contributions from some PRF folks the last time we did this.

Thanks/have fun with it

Tonight at midnight Pacific Standard Time I am going to be on the radio here in Portland.

This is the show I'm gonna be on. You can listen on the radio here in town or stream it live from anywhere:
https://xray.fm/shows/double-bummer

I'm gonna do a solo music set and then spin some Moroccan music, on vinyl, from my collection. Nass El Ghiwane, Jil Jilala, Lemchaheb, all the greats, plus some Gnawa stuff and some other randomness.

Because Herr Spackle asked for it - here is a link to the entire broadcast from last night, in 3 parts.

Shit was fun.

Hey, that was tight. Bob Ham* seems great.

Sometimes insomnia delivers. I tuned in at some point during the first hour, just in time to hear FM Angus Jung declare something "sensual". Agree with FM Spako on wishing to hear another country.

*Ham is such an incredible name. Did you know the first chimpanzee in space was named "Ham"? Poor Ham.
