I'm definitely out of the hip-hop loop, but just listened to Brockhampton's SATURATION and found it pretty great. Started listening to the second one, but it seems like it needs headphones/better speakers than I've got at home, so will check it at work tomorrow. This track!

This has been a really good year for records. I think I was drawn to guitar-based rock more this year, probably because I've played more guitar this year than I had in a while.

Albums I loved, in no particular order.

Wares "Wares"
Chavez "Cockfighters"
Hungry Man "Kind"
Longface "Hillbilly Wit"
Nick Cave and Bad Seeds "Skeleton Tree"
Arbouretum "Song of the Rose"
True FO "ep"
The Bismarck "Follow Your Heart"
God Eaters "Old Man Furniture"
Korean Jeans "Heat"
Bon Air "The Blue Line
Slates "Summery"
Santino Jones "Zwaves"
Andy Cohen and Light Coma "Unreality"
Mark Eitzel "Hey Mr. Ferryman"
The New Year "Snow"
Protomartyr "Relatives in Descent"
Slowdive
Ride "Weather Diaries"
Mogwai "Every Country's Son"

Holter records live with a band. If you are already a fan check it out.

Not super into this one and I'm a massive fan of a lot of the earlier ones. I'll keep trying though...

Good, good stuff I was late too:

Crux of Aux ~ Mona
Body/Void ~ Ruins is pretty good
the guitar-ing of Shane Parish/Perlowin
Gillian Welch! (well late)

Others of the year are local joints. Pools Of Light and the newest Big Brave. Easy to get lost in either...

I first heard about, and quickly purchased, Bedouine's self-titled album a couple of weeks back. It's very good new folk music and has just made Rough Trade and Paste's Best Records of 2017 lists. Am surprised more people aren't talking about it.

I need to spend more time with the LP, but the playing and signing are top notch and it's well produced and I do dig it.

I haven't seen Mauno's Tuning come up.

Great album that came out in October. They're from Nova Scotia, I guess. Sean Orr, the singer from Vancouver band NEEDS, recommended them to me on a FB thread that was otherwise dominated by PRFers.

I recommend Woolworm's Deserve to Die.

They're not great, but they are charming, and I'm fond of them. It's a nice Canadian band. I like most of side A, and the title track. I guess I think the drummer is almost great, but I'm not judging by this recording.

The Innumerable Forms LP never came out.
