Someone better crush the David Gates song, or this whole exercise is for naught...

I was in a band that played Circle Sky, 20ish years ago. It's a fun song to play!

Hahahaha. Okay, so the other night at band practice while fixing some gear we decided to start skimming Monkees songs. This was literally the only 1 in like 15 where my bandmate said, "this one is kinda cool." He also liked Porpoise Song.

It’s a great fucking song and easy to learn because it uses just about every major chord. It rocks. I should do a thunderdome for the studio version versus live version.

Another scorching rocker is “Do I Have To Do This All Over Again?”

Basically if you are only going to have one Monkees record it should be “Head”.

Yeah, they're both great songs. The studio vers. of Circle Sky is Nesmith's National Band and the live one is The Monkees.

Peter Tork wrote Long Title: Do I Have to Do This All Over Again and played all of the instruments except for the lead guitar that snakes through it; that is either Stephen Stills or Neil Young, I can't remember which.

Another one I love from Head is "Can You Dig It". But I have soft spot for eastern sounding stuff. I'd maybe tackle this one if I thought I could figure out the guitar part.
