Somewhere in my copy/pasting, I dropped the Terrence Dixon record, which was my second favorite of the year.

So, uh,

1.5 - Terrence Dixon - Like a Thief in the Night EP

As always, the top 10 was done in podcast form on Protonic Reversal.
That episode is up.

These should be construed as two dirrent lists by two different people.
First one is mine, second one is cohost Josh Davis (also on the PRF as Choppy)
Conan.

For those looking for more depth to the picks, click on the episode, or the episode link for a 98% accurate transcription. Something I pretty much only do once a year.

1. Oxbow - Thin Black Duke
2. Lardo - Sinking
3. christian fitness - slap Bass Hunks
4. Mountain Goats - Goths.
5. SEMINARS - Pricks Die Young
6. Magpies - Annex
7. Crystal Fairy - s/t
8. Dead Rider - Crew Licks
9. Out - Swim Buddiess
10. Fever Ray - Plunge

Josh
1. Palm - Shadow Expert ep
2. Power Trip - Nightmare Logic
3. Maximum Busy Muscle - s/t

5. Fox Face - Spoil + Destroy
6. Radioactivity - infected/Sleep
7. Julie Byrne - Not Even Happiness
8. Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
9. God Eaters - Xuma
10. Arto Lindsay - Cuidado Madame

Nothing personal if your band isn't on this list. It was that kind of a year.

1: L.A. Witch: S/T
2: Gregg Allman: Southern Blood
3: Anders Parker: The Man Who Fell From Earth
4: Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives: Way Out West
5:Chelsea Wolfe: Hiss Spun
6: Body Count: Bloodlust
7: The Sadies: Northern Passages
8: Robyn Hitchcock: S/T
9: Tau Cross: Pillar Of Fire
10 Richard Thompson: Acoustic Rarities

- L.A. Witch... Haven't taken this out of rotation since it came out. This band is pushing "Screamin' Jay Hawkins" levels of game face. The recording certainly compliments that fact.

- Gregg Allman... Shouldn't really require much of an explanation. Great all around.

- Anders Parker: Mostly acoustic guitar and strings. Haven't thought this much of string parts since the third Big Star record

- Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives... Really brilliant version of what this band does. Sounds amazing. Big up to Mike Campbell.

- Chelsea Wolfe... Again, really brilliant version of what this artist does. Felt kind of like the way Teatro fits into Willie Nelson's body of work.

- Body Count... Except for the "Juggalo" tune, this was like taco riff Woody Guthrie.

- The Sadies... It was nice to see them finally meld the two eras of "The Sadies" on a record. So great.

- Robyn Hitchcock... Great set of tunes. Great recording. As usual, the guy showed up with his game face on.

- Tau Cross... Away from Voivod plays drums on this. There are some truly legit "Metal Lyrics" moments on it.

- Richard Thompson... Great sounds and some brilliant work on this one. It's great. Not much of a shock.

Favorite Records of 2017

(a rough top ten based on emotional resonance but no really hard ranking, followed by twenty more, just a bunch of stuff that I liked and you might like too, as I have appreciated everybody's lists)

Helm: Rawabet (Alter)
The Dorf + N.: Lux (Umland)
Ben Roberts: Unit Audio (Staaltape)
Felicia Atkinson: Hand in Hand (Shelter Press)
Midori Hirano / Kris Limbach: The Last Day on Earth (Staaltape)
Tomoko Sauvage: Musique Hydromantique (Shelter Press)
Hector Zazou / Bony Bikaye / Cy1: Noir Et Blanc (Crammed Discs)
Quelle Chris: Being You Is Great, I Wish I Could Be You More Often (Stone's Throw)
Pardoner: Uncontrollable Salvation (Father/Daughter)
Gosheven: Leaper (Opal Tapes)

Dalglish: Wai20/12 (no-label online dump of unreleased material by artist, technically might be very late December 2016)
Different: It's Good to Be Differ-Ent (Don't Be Afraid)
Mike Majkowski: Days and Other Days (Astral Spirits)
Achim Zepezauer: Moerswald (Kuhzunft)
Maalem Mahmoud Gania: Colours of the Night (Hive Mind)
Wanci: Tarawangsawelas (Morphine)
Gökçen Kaynatan: s/t (Finders Keepers)
Roscoe Mitchell: Discussions (Wide Hive)
Helena Celle: If I Can't Handle Me at My Best, You Don't Deserve You at Your Worst (Night School)
Equiknoxx: Colón Man (DDS)

Bhob Rainey: From Null Lands Led, Starrily (Anòmia)
Nicola Ratti: The Collection (Room 40)
Alex Mincek: Torrent (Sound American)
Expressway Yo-Yo Dieting: Undone Harmony Following (Type)
Richard Dawson: Peasant (Domino)
Jlin: Black Origami (Planet Mu)
Joshua Abrams & Natural Information Society: Simultonality (Tak:til)
Carlos Casas: Pyramid of Skulls (Discrepant)
Yowie: Synchromysticism (Skin Graft)
VA (compiled by Matt Wand): Entertaining the Invalid (Small Rocks)

Probably forgetting some stuff...
Still some things I've yet to hear that would probably place pretty high, like R. Sakamoto's imaginary Tarkovsky soundtrack, async, that I have high hopes for but have been saving for a particularly quiet moment, and Chris Douglas' new release on Entr'acte that is on its way to me as I write.

Not true. I seem to remember a few votes for both Tyler, The Creator and Mount Eerie.

Yeah I failed to account for Elverum but I'd expect more votes for GT than TTC

I did a write-up on some of the music of this past year on my blog. Definitely checked out various albums as a result of this wonderful forum, but also gave some love to others not mentioned.
