Chicago this weekend (Jan 24-30, 2018)

Postby Seby on Wed Jan 24, 2018 4:52 am

Hi everyone,

A very good friend of mine from England, Stewart, is in Chicago right now until this coming Tuesday. He is a serious music fan with good taste, and he has asked me if I know either of anything going on or of places to go and so forth, hence this post.

I am hoping that some fellow PRFers might do Stewart a good thing and add all and any handy hints below. He is not a member of this forum (yet), however he will keep his eye on this thread.

Needless to say I am indebted in advance, and Stewart will buy you a beer if you cross paths! (Stew I know that you are reading this, these are good people, and they need beer.)

I'm sure people will pitch in with more specific ideas but here's the Reader calendar to get you started:

Shows at The Hideout, Hungry Brain, or Green Mill can be fun to go even if you don't recognize the artist.

Everyone should probably experience The Green Mill at 2am on a weekend at some point in their life.

Wow : )

FMs 154, DC, and Tommy, thank you so much.

Stew is in the air as I type this (my fuckup in that I thought that he was there already, but he will be in Chicago in a matter of hours), and he will be delighted to read the above.

Salut!

Looks like Bully is playing a free show at the Empty Bottle on the 29th. Something like that, you got to show up early to get in line so probably only consider it if yr friend is a huge fan. But if it turns out to be a shitty day outside, likely to be less people in line.

So I will be in Chicago from July 20-22 on a work thing. Not sure how much time I'll have but it'd be fun to meet up with some of you I've met in the past and/or any new folks. I think it's been about six years since I was there last.

PM me if you are around and want to meet up for food/drink.
