I think I've talked to at least one FM on here about this, but I'd like the sideways gain adjustor feature of my Fender Fuzz Wah in an enclosure that is not so big, not so fragile, and without the useless wah functionality.

Yeah I pop in there every once in a while and try the strats, but haven't found one yet that felt right.

Without knowing what "Cheap" is, the Fernandes Decade was essentially a Jazzmaster body with a Strat layout.

I like those, but can't half-cock it. Either a Jazzmaster or a Strat!!

Man, speaking of Jazzmasters, there's an interesting DIY Jazzmaster kit from the Fret Wire that I've had my eye on for a while. The only thing holding me back was that I couldn't really get access to a decent soldering kit and I didn't want to buy one, but someone recently agreed to let me use theirs. Probably won't buy it for another while, though, but it'll happen eventually.

Is there a pedal that'll work as an expression pedal & a volume pedal, but not at the same time? Like it'll only be an expression pedal if the pedal it's changing is activated, otherwise it'll be a volume pedal?

Trying to conserve some space on my board, and I've really found that the mini-volume/expression pedals don't work for my big ass feet.

Mastery hardware for the Jazzmaster.
(Emailed Woody at Mastery about fitting a bridge onto my unusual model and he responded in under seven minutes. Total king.)

Also a Pedaltrain Jr and a Pedal Power to go with.

I'm becoming all kind of things I once hated!

The old Boss FV300L will do this. It's a stereo volume or dual expression or single vol/single exp pedal, depending on how you hook it up. Keep in mind that if you have it set as volume in one part of the effects chain, it will still affect the volume when you have activated the pedal with Exp input.

I thought someone made an exp pedal that had a footswitch to select between two CV outputs but I can't find anything now. Source Audio and EHX both make dual exp pedals but they function the same as the BOSS minus the ability to use as volume, at least without using insert cables.

I have one of these, which I just use as a volume pedal, but I think it might do what you want. Love the thing. Feels just like an Ernie Ball pedal but without the stupid string.

The boss one is what I have. It’s good for playing standing up.i have a Hilton for steel which is pretty sleek but the action is a little too fast.

Okay, so the more I read up on this, seems like the Boss guy won't do what I'm thinking, unless put the volume part in a loop and engage it when I want to use the volume vs. the expression.

I found this thing: http://this1smyne.com/shop/externalernie/ and it seems like it'll make any volume pedal into an expression pedal and I can use this to switch between. He also mods the Ernie Ball vp so you can switch between expression and volume. But, I'm not a huge fan of the Ernie Ball guy, and I can't find another pedal with an external switch to go between volume & expression.

So far my options seem to be:

Boss/Fractal/Dunlop/etc volume/expression pedal with an additional loop pedal to switch the volume part in and out (adds a pedal to the board which I'd like to avoid)

Modded Ernie Ball vp pedal with an external switch (doesn't add a pedal to the board, but not a fan of the EB volume pedal)

External pedal that can make any volume pedal into an expression pedal and switch between (adds another pedal to the board)

Man, how is someone not making that exact thing in a world of those Pedaltrain Jr. pedal boards?

Seems like it would be the first "Functionality" pedal a company would come up with. Like "Tuner"-level obvious.

For real! And I've come across enough Gear Page threads of people trying to do this that it seems like a dumb thing that someone could make and people would be happy!

I feel like I just found my equivalent of Tim's dual delay momentary thing white whale thing that took almost a decade to solve!

Chris, "Comments" section/Right at the top. Seems like you are not the only person thinking along these lines(which it seems like you've already worked out). I'm not sure if the came up with a silver bullet or not, but I'm interested now.

To go even further down the rabbit hole, I've found that expression pedals with a pot less than 50k don't sound right w/ what I'm doing w/ the Minifooger Delay. Tried one of those DOD mini exp pedals and it didn't have even range that I need for the wooshing bullshit I'm doing w/ it.

Man, how is there not a company that does nothing but this?

It can't be that high of a hurdle, and it feels like there is a market that is just being ignored.

That switch box you linked should work with any passive volume pedal, Chris. Any pedal builder should be able to build one for about $10 in parts plus a box to house it.

Ended up ordering this switch off Reverb:

https://reverb.com/item/10269490-amazin ... pedals-com

Still can't believe that there isn't an off the shelf switchable volume/expression pedal on the market. Hey pedal builders, someone make this damn thing, it seems like there's a market for it!

It seems like someone should be able to make this in a crybaby type shell with a dual pot. One side of the dual pot is hooked to the audio input and output through the traditional jacks and an additional jack is hooked to the other pot to control expression. A 3PDT footswitch could probably be configured to switch between these two functions so you aren't controlling both at the same time.

Boom!
