I was wrong about the sizes. They're 13/13/16/20.

Back to the trash heap.

1965 Ludwig kit, 12/12/14/20 in Blue Sky Pearl, with cymbals, hardware and Supraphonic snare in original, nearly unplayed shape, for $200.
The seller was a scrapper/picker and found it by the side of the road with the trash last week and though it was too nice to just leave there. I saw his CL ad about 15 minutes after he posted it, and he was located 3 miles away from my office.

Incredible. I think drum deals just spring up wherever you are.

I doubt it. There was some other trash in the rolling case, like it had fallen in while it was sitting by the side of the road. Some old bathroom fixtures, old magazines and catalogs.

Based on the neighborhood where the seller found it, it was most likely the family cleaning out a house after the owner passed away. That neighborhood has a lot of original homeowners from the 50s-60s, and it's in an expensive part of town. I'm guessing they just thought it was a old kid's drum set. There's a name written on the hardware and cymbals in a child's handwriting.

Got it.

It's cool to see an old Sky Blue kit that isn't faded. Crazy.

Got this getup for $200 last night. Head might need new caps, but the cab is ok.

I love those 301 cabs! Especially if its the original Cerwin Vega 18"! You have to get far enough back from it though when playing.

One hell of a deal. Gotta say, I count myself as lucky to have witnessed FM bootsykronos issuing neutron-star-density bass through one of these with an 70s Gibson RD.

Picked up a Crown XS900 power amp over the weekend for $50 due to it having a broken power switch.

Grabbed a 2002 L4 in MINT condition with OHSC for $1500.

Image

1500 is a lot of bananas, but considering that used ones go for $2500 and up, flipping it should make a good payday for ol' yard barf.

Plays and sounds great. I'll probably hold onto it for awhile and enjoy it. Seems a little too snazzy for my taste. What's that ridiculous wood shape, mounted on the already ridiculous tailpiece? Sheesh.
