It's a sanctuary for me whenever I'm over there. (I'm usually in another state, but I have family in the area. Makes me feel good.)

Elderly is like the Midwest cousin of Palo Alto's Gryphon Strings. These two stores are my absolute favorites. Whenever I visit family in EL I make sure to spend a few hours at Elderly and play different guitars.

Elderly is a great shop, super nice people. Last Spring, I got a mint 1976 Gibson G3 bass with OHSC for $750 there.

I think I played that when it was there! It seems like there's always great deals going on. Their sales staff is so friendly and knowledgeable - super nice people, indeed. I still haven't figured out if living less than 15 min away from there is good or bad, haha.

Leonids crew popped in there on the way to the PRF Campout, maybe the best guitar shop I have set foot in. The staff seemed cool too.
Maybe a little less yelling and a little more hugging.

What I actually need are old Peavey Rogan knobs, or something similar. I have a Peavey Bandit in place as a practice amp and it works for apartment jams, but it came without the knobs (all shafts intact), and I would really like to get actual settings in place.

Non-functional Peavey Bandit with all knobs but one.

It's cheaper than eBay prices for those knobs individually, which are ridiculous.

One of these;

...you get an idea of my aesthetic. I've been playing around with my IVP recently and I really want to set it up proper with a little/medium power amp. Exactly a year ago I was hunting power amps for a friend who was building his own pre and I came across each of these for less than $100 a piece. I ended up snagging him the Sunn Beta Power+ for $75. Fuckin' A. I know that there are a thousand alternatives, but I like my shit cheap, old and cool looking. Especially if it's going to be riding shotgun to the impeccable and iconic design of the IVP.

hah, that bottom acoustic power amp is %100 a picture of mine - It's great. I ran it with an old 70s GBX preamp, or just a rat straight in was about perfect.

we used it in a pinch for vocal duties before I bought a PA. Our singer maxed it out instead of the preamp and with the sketchy power in my basement, blew the PT which is $$ on those.. haven't gotten around to fixing it, very bummer.

A nice bass, full scale. The Musicmaster just isn't cutting it anymore.

Obsessed with my friend’s early 60s “candy panel” Vox ac30.

Possibly the best sounding amp I’ve ever played through.

Talk to Dr Balls! I think about getting a vintage AC30 head a lot since the price isn’t as bad as the combos. It would require selling off a ton of stuff (except the Balls head - it’s not going anywhere) for something I already have, but the AC30 rabbit hole is not a bad place to be.

Ditto. I also have a Balls AC30 and I'd still love to have a copper-face AC30 combo. I could sell shit to make it happen, but "do I neeeeeed it?" Does your buddy's have top boost?

Side note: anyone ever use something like this https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BrownBox or a Variac to run vintage amps at the voltages listed on the schematics?

I am after a short scale fender- musicmaster, duosonic, bronco, mustang...Squier would be fine.

I was actually considering pickup up one of the new HH cheapo mustangs and reworking it into a music master- just a single neck pickup. But if anyone has ideas, I'd listen.
