Apparently Mike Watt is gonna be at this year's NAMM, debuting his new signature bass by Reverend, the Wattplower.

Nice talking to Neil & Kevin in the reverb booth and was happy to show my partner Electrical/Bean guitars in person - really great stuff. I couldn't find the Line6 booth near the end of the day (where's the grand ballroom?), and didn't run into anyone else but it was probably for the best as I had waaaaay too much coffee.

I'm excited to be there this year. Anyone else? Come say hi at the Shure booth. Let's grab some food!

I'll be working the Line 6 booth and also running around giving hugs to all my MI friends. See you there!

There’s a great old burger place called Apollo Burger walking distance from the convention center and some decent Mexican within driving distance.

I’ll be hanging a bit in the Taylor booth on Friday and checking stuff out with my spouse and some Canadian friends would love to stop by and say hi to you guys

Going to go Friday and Saturday. I'm excited to see PRFers. Maybe I should wear my Torlex shirt.

I'm going on Saturday with my brother, but going alone on Friday. Was thinking of taking the train, but I don't know if that's a good idea. Also, the station is 3 miles from the convention. Also thought about renting a car for the day, but I don't know if traffic will be brutal, also parking situation there, etc. Maybe someone wants to give me a ride on Friday?

Traffic once you get close is terrible- parking is paying $30 or driving around neigbourhoods and walking a 0.5-1 mile.

where are you staying?

The Disney lots are about $12-$14 per day. There is also parking at Angels Stadium with a free shuttle.

Hmmm. Angels Stadium is right by the Train station. It MAY be possible to take the train and then hop on the free shuttle at the stadium... maybe.

I'm staying in silver lake. So the shuttle runs all day? Because that could work with train!

Silverlake? I live in Echo Park!

As for the shuttle, I don't know the details. Here's what I know

Is that exhibitor price? Little while ago I parked in those lots for a design expo and it was $27, but maybe NAMM cuts the rates, good to hear

Eliya getting into silver lake would be a mess for me, but otherwise hope to meet

$16 everywhere it looks like. Im probably just going to park across the street at Disneyland and walk over. If you have a retail or exhibitor pass, you can park at the actual convention center. Theres a bunch of parking there, but its not available to any "guests" just the actual industry folks.

The train would be easy if thats how you're coming. Ive ridden the Amtrak a bunch of times into Anaheim, it literally drops you at Angel Stadium (or whatever the fuck they call it nowadays). Just get off the train, head downstairs to the parking lot, and grab the free shuttle to the convention center!

Have gathered that one of the best reasons to attend NAMM is so that you can say afterwards...

"I was in NAMM, man!"

Sorry, I'll show myself out. I like dumb jokes sometimes.

I read over on talk(me out of)bass that G&L or CLF Research (?) was showing new L-2000 basses in '80s non-ugly headstock style....

Man, this thing is rough. Got to see Liz which was awesome but got so overwhelmed that I forgot to check any of the other prf occupied booths. Hopefully tomorrow!

I imagine NAMM is something like the Manhattan Guitar Center at its busiest x 10. Has anyone gone to one of these things and really been blown away by the gear? I assume it’s more of a trade show for suppliers and dealers and such, but if there’s a silver lining for everyday players such as those that populate this forum I’m all ears. Just curious is all, since there are plenty of smart forumites that straddle the edges of both worlds. Not dogging anybody for going.

yeah it's generally for suppliers or people just excited about modern gear. I played something that was really fun, http://www.frankbrothersguitars.com/#frank-brothers
I'm not %100 sold on the aesthetics but I loved the neck, sound and the volute is awesome. The guys at the company seemed great.

I stopped by the Shure booth but didn't catch anyone - and the Line6 booth but Ben was gone but your co-worker Sam was great.
