I bought a ticket about a minute before seeing these posts, I thought Yow was just with them for the LA date before that. That's so awesome.

Sure wish I could've seen David singing with The Dicks in Austin, years ago. But I was lucky enough to see him with The Melvins a long while back.

Just a few short weeks away. The Chicago/St. Louis shows are the start of a much-needed 10-day vacation for me. I'm looking forward to hanging out with some pals.

Yes, this is correct.
Got to see this the first time and it was awesome.
David approached all the material with panache and the appropriate amount of reverence and irreverence. It was really great.
I'll probably drive down for the Chicago show.

That was a shambling, embarrassing nightmare.

That was fucked.

Like four amplifiers ended up fried, multiple fights broke out, the stage was absolutely littered with beer cans, and I walked in on a band member scoring acid after the set.

Helluva show.
Kerouacian as fuck.

Fuck it, I just bought a ticket to the Chicago show because it’s fucking Flipper.

Flipper is the furthest thing from crap. Too fucking real. I’m surprised most of these guys are still alive. More bands should do the bass guitar as underpinning with guitar on top as noise accoutrement thing. That is a super winning formula, at least in the case of Flipper.

Blow'n Chunks is a rad live album. That was my introduction to them so I guess I should finally see them live. Steve DePace remains a drumming inspiration.

The Flipper show last night at Reggies was a hoot. Yow is a good fit for them. Falconi was in fine form. DePace played well; more on point and less shambolic-in-a-good-way than I remember him playing. Road Warrior bass player woman hit all the right notes.

They played the hits. The sold out crowd loved every minute of it. Martin Atkins joined them for double drummer action for the last two songs of the set. A saxophone player wearing a horse mask joined them for the last song, “Sex Bomb.” And there were about 35 members of the audience on stage dancing during the finale.

oh man so jealous. can't think of any band that can veer between blissfully thrilling and insanely annoying like this band. maybe Dinosaur Jr if you're in the wrong mood. would totally understand people voting crap on these guys although i wouldnt in a 1,000 years

Falconi, De Pace and Thoele were on fucking point, so Yow was just perfect. Sex Bomb was hot as shit.

Back in Old Fuckers High School, when Generic Flipper came out, it sat in regular rotation for me and my pals, totally conspicuous against all the jacked-up speedy, ding-a-ding punk surrounding it. Reason: it's timeless.

That show was such a blast.

Yow is the perfect front man for them live. Seeing him crack up Falconi and DePace was great, I always had a sort of belief that those guys were the most intense and serious people alive (for some reason).

"This band is really really good."

"If... you're into that kind of shit."
