A-bump again.

I finally bought Amebix's Arise. What a fucking amazing album. I've been into the early English squatter punk/crust/more bleak metal before, but damn.

Amebix, they are excellent. I suggest for any old school metal/punk/hc fan.

Not Crap.

Tad overrated in underground punk circles but underrated by everyone else. Brilliantly apocalyptic mix of Killing Joke/Motorhead/Venom.

I composed and produced the album California is Cold by Shahmen. Check out the video we just put out for the song Poison.

NOT CRAP.

Arise is a triumph of early crust. I respect this band for doing what they did WHILE squatting as much as I respect them for making good records.

Gets a bit heavy at times. Have to be in the mood for it.

Definitely not crap though.

Touring the US, starting Thursday: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/Blabbe ... mID=108054

Might have to google around for updated info though. I know the RI show was sold out, and the Philadelphia show @ Starlight Ballroom was moved to the Trocadero...

I just heard Arise tonight. My instincts say not crap, but I'll have to spin it a few more times.

I took a listen to half of Monolith and it did almost nothing for me, so I went and dl'ed Arise. Holy shit, what a difference.

On the strength of Arise, Not Crap. But man, what I've heard off of Monolith feels like a falloff, even though I heard it first.

Get No Sanctuary: The Spiderleg Recordings, listen to "Winter", proceed to love this band.

Thanks for posting that! Amazing.

I love every note this band ever recorded.

Saw them on their 2009 reunion tour and they were pretty much flawless. All my expectations were met, and then some.

They're working on a new album now called Sonic Mass. Based on the recent Redux 12" it should be quality stuff. You can read / watch all about it on their website.

Here's one of my favorite things about Amebix: during the 20 years they were inactive for someone would regularly ask...

"Hey, whatever happened to the singer Rob Miller?"

"Oh, he lives on an island and makes swords."

Yes.

Now that, my friends, is a bad ass way to make a living after being in a band.
