i cannot stand the chili peppers and am baffled that they have "credibility" with anyone save for the fraternity date-rape crowd

This is exactly how I feel about guided by voices.

As far as the Chili Peppers go, CRAP with waffles for One Hot Minute (I actually prefer them with Navarro?)

it's not that I didn't understand your post, I just thought your statement is stupid crap and worse than any RHCP output. what kind of philosophy is it exactly to wish one had died of an OD just because you don't like his records.

The only thing I ever thought was interesting about the red hot chili peppers was their brief association with Cliff Martinez.

I guess this band would be a guilty pleasure for me? I don't feel guilty about it though. I don't really care about how cool slap bass is or the fact that they debase funk by calling themselves that or whatever, I just love a lot of their songs, I wish all pop music was this fun, where each member of the band matters and adds something to the music, unlike stuff like the Strokes and whatever, who all just seem interchangeable and seem SO much like other bands, Chilis are unique. I admit that of late they've been playing watered down tripe for coldplay fans but I still like some of it. Guess I have some bad taste!

I am trying to enjoy my limited internet availability at my school's library and am being subjected to a horrendous amount of their new music by some girl nearby who has her goddamn head-phones turned up to "11" if not "12", it's pure musical agony, I can hear everything. If this band were to suddenly die or be mutilated, I would renounce my atheist ways.

The Chili Peppers remind me of all the stupid bands we were stuck playing with back in the early nineties. Even if they weren't a 'funk' band they still had the long hair and shorts. Granted, our band sucked too.

Actually, if there was no vocals on that record it would be kind of ok...

Maybe not.

I liked some of the first album when it came out, bought it simply because Andy Gill's name was on it, the promo photos and artwork sure didn't make me want to buy it.

The first time they came through Mpls. I worked the show and took apart Hillel's guitar and fixed the pickups for him. I thought he was the nicest of the bunch and was saddened to hear he OD'd. He looked like an accountant, I had no idea.

Anthony wound up drunk and slobbering over some suntanned Edina icky women, Flea looked all bummed out.

They sure turned into a piece of shit band in a hurry after that.

I'd rather have 60 sloppy seconds than One Hot Minute.

A light year is a measure of distance, not time. But that's not the biggest mistake in this sentence. No redemption. None. I would banish them to a place where Jimmy Dean and Pat Boone sing songs about pure pork sausage all day.

Red Hot Chili Peppers light years from here. Now there's a good idea.

Chuck Brown and his big DC Go-Go band opened for them once in Chicago. I enjoyed Chuck Brown...and then got the heck out of there.

Crapifornication.

What did Jimmy Dean ever do to deserve such a fate?
