Hiya Fellas!

Obviously I should have some sort of opinion about this band!

I wonder if he was a KISS fan, ha ha!

I think this guy writes some pretty catchy tunes.

Have A Great Day!

I'm glad somebody's finally doing something with the sonic possibilities set forth by Steve Winwood. What would we do without Pitchfork to champion this stuff?

Destroyer are a real band, not some concocted hipster bullshit.

You sound like everyone else when you say stuff like that. Come on.

It's just lately Pfork seems to be evaluating albums based on how palatable they would be to your average Shermer High class of '88 student. "This record is pretty good, but could I see Amanda Jones digging it? Not really. 7.6" "Now this is totally a Blane McDonough album. 8.7"

tipcat, I know you might actually be fine with that, but Christ, I wish they'd go back to rhapsodizing about Animal Collective records. At least those weren't totally retrogressive.

Why would you go to Pitchfork or care about what they champion? It's like bitching about Rolling Stone. Of course they're clueless.

Tocharian is right.

What a fucking awful band. I pity the people that listen to this. (make sure to mute the video on the left.)

Pitchfork bashing...so boring.

I haven't even read the review. All I know is the record is a gorgeous, melancholy wonder, and not 'in spite of' the seemingly drecky sound elements. They're employed to very deliberate effect here. You have to listen.

It's despicable music.

I never thought I could use those two words together, so I'm surprised.

The irony and sadness of anyone complaining about Pitchfork being Pitchfork in the year 2011 is that she clearly still reads Pitchfork.

A lot of Destroyer's music is eminently hatable; you get it or you don't.

Btw, listen to how hard the drummer steps on the pedal at about 1:30. And that ain't no Steve Winwood action during the outro, neither.

Destroyer contains multitudes; even if they're mostly the same. It's part of the chameleon charm for fans.

Also, I happen to know that Bejar is one of the shyest, least pretentious guys of his ilk.

And I get that reaction. I wouldn't give this kind of music more than a shrug if I weren't already a fan. Not because I'm a dumb sucker but because I believe in Destroyer (there is a difference).

I wouldn't expect to win over a single hater.

I spend most of my time listening to metal these days. High on Fire, Electric Wizard, Cephalic Carnage, etc. I also dig Destroyer. A band like Destroyer does not represent or portend any baneful trend in hipster chic. It's just Bejar following his queer whims. If it makes people angry, so much the better.

The saxophone on the new one is horrible, and I have no idea if Bejar knows that. The trumpet is often great.

Like I said, with the new stuff, you've either got to be a believer or have really weird-ass taste.

My buddy just finished remastering/repressing an old Destroyer cassette that was released in 1997. If you like the older Destroyer records then this should be right up your alley.

Triple Crown Audio Recordings of Canada

Also has some Ladyhawk related records which are pretty damn good.

Sorry for the plug...

Yo Braden, is this the "Ideas For Songs" tape? Because that rules. Shit's catchy as hell and has the right amount of ironic distance and bleak sarcasm to get me to laugh. Any word on this?
