Less is more when it comes to "drum solos".

ringo's drum solo on abbey road sucks.

You're mental.

Drum solos are, on balance, crap. Yes, there are good ones, but these are far, far outweighed by the bad ones and the truly "Please encase my head in concrete, I can't take any more" terrible.

I have a drummer in here that has consistently made it to the guitar center state wide drum offs for the last few years. Yet he has trouble keeping a straight 4 on the floor for more then 4 bars.

WTF

That's because the whole set was one big solo to Moon!

Few drummers can pull that kind of train off the tracks shit and make it work.

Most of Moon's playing was a series of fills with occasional beats thrown in.

Man, so many crap votes. Have you fuckers ever heard of a drum break?

At least in idiot rock bands that turn up the guitar louder than everyone else. Have you heard of The Who?

My dad told me a pretty cool Joe Morello story last week. Pops was studying in the Bay Area in the early sixties and went to see Morello give a clinic in the City. At one point he began to slowly demonstrate various techniques and patterns, working them all together and increasing volume and tempo until everybody's jaw had hit the floor. He was also keeping up your basic drum clinic patter, making jokes, etc. Then just when it seemed he had thrown in as much as possible, he dropped one of the sticks and continued with one hand, never missing a beat.

As a drummer, I don't really enjoy them.

We have one in one of our new songs and I have yet to find a way to make it sound cool.

Maybe try performing it from inside a cage.

You know how much that would rule right.

No, I get that.

I'm just saying Germ.

Cage.

I mean if you have to play the solo anyway...

Think about it.

"HERE I COME, TACOMA"

"WELL, YOU SOUND LIKE YOU'RE DOING FUCKING CHOICE"

"AND THEN, IN MY DREAM, MOTHERFUCKER, I DECIDED TO GO... TO THE LEFT!!!!!"

Would this same method be as interesting if it was just a guy with one foot on his amp, leaning to the left playing a guitar solo?

Dude probably had like a kilo's worth in him to be acting such a fool, which is probably to say nothing of the bottle of Jager.

Bounce, bitches.

This isn't settled.

On one hand, Art Blakey.

On the other, Terry Bozzio.

But it's C/NC.... YOU MUST CHOOSE.
