philly, trocadero, september, there already.

my undying respect to anyone that attends a swan show dressed only in a pair of white tights, no shirt, and a long blond wig who stands in the front row bellowing gutturally instead of applauding.

Nice! Me too. It's amazing they scored The Troc.

I truly hope Gira gets what he needs out of this new Swans affair. That is one man who does not deserve to be struggling to get by.

That reminds me... I saw them play in Denver about 15 years ago. A friend of mine was there and had drank a bit too much. He went up near the front and kept screaming his request for "Loop 33" (off "Body to Body Job to Job"). That is possibly the very LAST song Swans would ever play live.

Gira finally said "You need to stop yelling. We're trying to perform here. You're being rude."

He yelled back "FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! LOOP 33!!!!!!!!."

It's funny now. But I really should have knocked him out and thrown him in the alley.

You are 100% correct.

I wish I could have seen them back then. My first Swans show was in '92.

One of the two best songs on the album, I'd say. And fairly indicative of the record, as a whole. Even the tune featuring Devendra Banhart and Gira's daughter doesn't fuck it up. In fact, that track is actually pretty great. Tempos are surprisingly brisk for a Swans LP, and the vibe is definitely more "rock" than in the past. Feels more live and loose and psychedelic than the old Swans material.

If you enjoy stuff like Grinderman and the Angels of Light at their loudest, this new Swans LP is for you. It's not exactly the sequel to Cop, but that'd be pretty silly if it were at this point in time.

I'm really, really fucking impressed with My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky. Pretty much every song kills. Phenomenal work.

It's funny that The Swans are playing shows with Baby Dee.

I saw Baby Dee once... Not exactly the first artist who comes to mind when you think of a Swans opener, but no one could say she/he is a bad fit.

I can't vote on the Swans because I've only ever heard them in passing. Like what I've heard but just haven't gotten around to giving their records a proper listen. They seem like a good, uncompromising band worth one's time.

My favorite band. Not crap. No waffles whatsoever. None.

Been loving the 2 disc version of the new album. It's outstanding even if I feel the songs should have been much longer.

I really love the live albums though. One of the few bands whose live recordings I can listen to repeatedly. The almost 19 minute version of Blind Love on Feel Good Now is so intense.

I just ordered my LP. I must say I love this vinyl / download option.

I couldn't be more psyched that Philadelphia will be the first show on the tour. For one fleeting evening Philly will be a great place to call home.

Have you all seen the SWANS photos on the Young God site? Scroll down for some amazing old ones:

Christoph Hahn looks even more prematurely aged than Mark E. Smith. Pretty impressive.
