These guys were good. I sure miss them. The Sto Cazzo album especially kicked my ass.

Not crap. I liked them very much. My band played w/ Zzzz not to long ago, who were also excellent , in a completely different manner. But, yay sweep, they were something.

sweep put on one of the greatest shows i've ever seen.

late september of 2001...i'll never forget it.

actually, they put on a similar show that blew me away in december of 99...with Pegboy, i thinks...

anyways. alot of their recorded material (except for Stocazzo) leaves much to be desired, but man, when you saw them live, they were monsters...

except for their last show. which i thought sucked. hehe. seriously.

Steve the sax player was in a good band called Check Engine, but it exploded soon after with only one album.

I really liked STLJ. I saw them a bunch of times, never understood a word of the vocals, and absolutely didn't care at all. Great angles.

really good stuff... stocazzo being maybe the best recording (sound-wise too); although i have to say their earlier studio efforts we're solid and creative as well. amazing live band... what's not to like here? not crap.

One of the best live bands I've ever seen.
I think each record was better than the last.
RIP, STLJ.

I really dig 'em. I have a terrible track record of discovering bands just after they break up and STLJ fit the mold. Never got to see them live.

Saw them once at fireside - thought they were good. That was my only exposure to them - I'll tentatively go with not crap.

Back in the mid-90s during a period of bad taste in music for me, I had a ska compilation with a band on it called "Sweep The Leg Johnny". This is not the ska band we are talking about here, no?

StLJ was more of a Math Rock band with a heavily featured saxophone. I think you are talking about a different band. I never listened to any of their recorded output, but they were indeed monsters the three or four times that I saw them.

Not Crap.

Sounds like this was a very different band. The one I know was rather unremarkable third-wave ska. Good to know, now when I hear people talk fondly of StLJ I don't have to look at them weird.

I met Billy Zabka once, and asked him if he'd ever heard Sweep the Leg Johnny. He said, "Oh man, they're CRAZY!"

I peripherally knew a girl who was either in or somehow involved with the band. She was friends with friends. However, she was never nice to me, so I think she's an asshole. Never heard a note of their music, and now don't really want to.

I don't care.

Fuck you.
