A friend with extremely good taste -- one Alex of Manhattan, NYC -- worships the living shit out of Killing Joke; always has, always will. I can't really relate. NC, I'm sure, but calm down already; they weren't ALL that.

Really like this song!

wonder if Jaz will be dragging out the ol' Oberheim at any point... I hear a little synth action in there.

Oh. No. That show date got pushed back.

Killing Joke @ Empty Bottle canceled

But it looks like there are still tickets for the December 10th & 11th shows at the Empty Bottle. Which is a good thing because I completely forgot to buy tickets.

One superb debut LP and some equally great singles. Two patchier but ultimately decent albums. And a whole lot of badly-produced crapola, w/the odd kick-ass song trying to escape from its confines. Actually, some of that Dirt, Extremities, & Other Things You'll Find in My Pants LP was pretty great. But not much else.

However: Killing Joke's guitar sound might just be the finest in all of rock music (before slickness and synths took over). Seriously, I wouldn't mind keeping Geordie chained to the lamp in my living room so he could perform on command. (And he's not even a woman!) Coleman is a raving nut-job but he's extremely effective on the early material. I wish the drummer laid off the tom-toms sometimes and got into some deeper kick/snare action, but that's a totally minor criticism.

Not Crap. Although I tuned out decades ago.

I used to love them until I saw them live at ATP, I walked out it was so bad.

Great title for a song. I miss London town quite a bit.

‘In Excelsis’
‘Endgame’
‘Kali Yuga’
‘Ghost Of Ladbroke Grove’

All of these songs are taken from the sessions for the forthcoming KJ album ‘Absolute Dissent’, but it has yet to be decided whether they will feature in the final track-listing.

‘Absolute Dissent’ has been produced by the band & Youth and engineered/ mixed by Clive Goddard at studios in London, Prague and Spain; Clive Goddard has worked with Youth on a number of high-profile projects.

I smell crystal clear super clean sound. I cry little in my heart now. I want to smell filth and decay.

Hosannas from the Basements of Hell ripped Heavens apart. Total ace.

‘Absolute Dissent’ marks the 30th Anniversary for Killing Joke, and is the first time the original line-up has worked together in 28 years.

UK shows are lined up for October 2010:
15th – Picture House, Edinburgh
16th – Hammersmith Apollo, London

I might be dreg in the crowds, there and then.

I like it a lot.
But I even listen to their wimpy 80's shit a lot, so who knows what anyone else would think?

I like KJs gradual dance floor decline over Fire Dances - Night Time - Brighter Than a Thousand Suns (original mix). They sort of finished this period with EURO trip to Berlin and recorded BTaTS in famous Hansa studios - Mecca for various English artists.

I don't like alt-rock 1990s albums.

Anyhow, they've been fully capable of nice surprises for life-long goths and others: Extremities, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions & Hosannas from the Basements of Hell.

Huge band, huge love.

I'd love to celebrate 30th Anniversary.

You nailed it.

I quite like the new album. I got to know Paul Raven a few years back (RIP) but I think he was the real driver of the band's merge into essentially a metal band for the past few years. The new album takes it back a few steps and lets that glorious guitar sound through.

Not crap, by a mile.

Weird. I will. Soon.

Also, it seems I shouldn't rely on my sense of "smell".

I don't like Absolute Dissent. I sort of love it.

Killing Joke is on fire.

Their first lp is very bad.
Probably influential, but still very bad.

The new album is really, really good. If someone asked me what does Killing Joke sound like I'd play them the new record. Just what the doctor ordered.
