I love me some Chrome. I bought the box of cd's that was (I think) reissued a couple years back. Got constant listen for a good month or two. Cool thing about it was I could just throw any of the three discs on and let it play until it reached the end.

I can't say that too often. Not Crap.

Half Machine Lip Moves is probably their strongest work overall, but 'Chromosome Damage' could be their best song. The sound of the drums and guitar really stand on their own as well.

Also, fuck me for not seeing the third and most appropriate option in the poll. You can bet my vote would have gone there.

I wish there was more "rock" music that sounds like Chrome. Completely unique. The Visitation, Half Machine Lip Moves, Alien Soundtracks, and 3rd From The Sun are all incredible records. Hell, I even like some of the later stuff.

An all time favorite band for sure.

I am really digging Red Exposure lately. "Eyes on Mars" is a great song.

I really like the idea of Chrome than listening to their music a lot of the time. It still hasn't hit the spot with me but I get the feeling they are one of those bands that one day I will 100% "get".

I want to trip while listening to Chrome so bad. Maybe with Blade Runner on mute playing too.

Not Crap.

been listening to them for probably over a decade now ever since i discovered them on a compilation disc containing Firebomb...

Firebomb is a real rare beast of a song for them...there's nothing else quite like it in terms of feel...

not crap, they are wonderful and are a major influence in terms of sound for me personally...

Paranoid, aggressive, druggy, sci-fi, homespun, organic, rocking, utterly unique. Sounds like a cauldron of bubbling, malevolently stinking, toxic crap and frying circuitry. Grooves like a mofo w/some of the finest synapse-melting guitars in recorded history.

Much respect to Nina for digging the first album, although I personally think they hadn't quite found the formula yet on The Visitation. (Though if you're a fan of classic psych and weirdo '70s moves, I can understand why it might be your favorite.) For me, the second album thru Raining Milk (or whatever constituted the final LP prior to the Creed/Edge split) is where it's at, esp. Alien Soundtracks, Half Machine Lips Moves, and the work w/the Stench brothers on bass and drums. An overdose of waffles for the karaoke versions of the band led by Edge (w/a buncha French düdes in the '80s) and Creed (w/a buncha American acid heads, much more recently). But generally speaking, the prime Chrome albums remain mind-boggling to this day.

This thread is so ancient. BRW you must have been 10 when this thread started. I cannot believe that someone who joined this board in 2006 only has SPAMMER status. That my friends is impressive to my brain.

Been listening to Alien Soundtracks all day today. What a strange, strange album that is. The edits on that album make no sense whatsoever, but they're so great.

Chrome is pretty obviously Not Crap. I ought to listen to them more often.
