I just read the review and it's okay. I realised that if they didn't use a numerical system, I probably wouldn't blink at this article at all. I mean, I doubt I like this record but the review isn't badly written. It's okay.

All I was talking about was the rating.

Yeah, I was talking more about my expectations. I read it expecting it to be an awful review which I could quote and laugh at but it's just a regular, sorta okay review. Take away the numerical rating and I'd have no issue with it.

He was on Colbert Report last night. I didn't mind the music, but I wasn't paying attention enough to warrant a vote yet. My wife liked it, so that means I'll eventually be hearing this record quite a bit whether I like it or not.

I initially read the thread title as Bon Scott and got pretty confused.

+1.

Except for the Yamaha DX7 sounds in that one song. Holy shit, that's like having someone make a wedding cake out of the groom's socks from when he played basketball in Middle School.

Tracks 1-5 should be thrown out and 6-10 should be kept as just an ep

Justin has an incredible voice, yet he doesn't move out of the falsetto thing enough.

This is perhaps acceptable if your lady love has just died of diphtheria and it's the 19th century. Otherwise, it's self-infatuation and ingratitude and writing songs about it is essentially bragging about hurting people. Thank you for existing to frame my feelings now I shall strum my honey misted manfeelings about how hard it is to love again. Talking to you too Iron and Wine dude.

Lou Barlow was mentioned earlier... for some reason I don't mind him at all because he seems to always have had a genuine sense of himself as cross-eyed and at-fault.

I've never knowingly listened to this b(l)and and I hope to never have to do so. There's a lot of really, really bad folk artists down here that compare themselves to this dude and they all fucking suck shit. I can't even begin to imagine how bad this CRAP is.

yeah, some of my friends on FB were talking about it and i looked at a youtube for some song and it sounded like early Pink Floyd minus anything that makes Pink Floyd great...

i told my friend that he was treading adult contemporary waters...

Out of boredom and curiosity I decided to listen to this band.

What the hell, people. I'm going to have to KARP for the rest of the day to wash this out of my head.

Also, Bon Iver remind me that Talk Talk weren't that great either.

Talk Talk are far and away beyond ever needed to be mentioned in the same sentence as Bon Iver.

I watched a clip of Bon Iver on Jimmy Fallon. That song could easily be a Laughing Stock outtake.

No way. No. Way. Bon Iver's voice sounds like Mark Hollis' only in his dreams. Bon Iver also lacks the balls Talk Talk showed with their last two records.

I only heard the Bonnie Raitt cover they did on some TV show.

Someone mentioned Coldplay, and that cover had in common with Coldplay the confluence of complete competency and being terrible.

I like that song when Bonnie Raitt does it. She's not a precious person.

I think I listened to one of his (edit: or is it a band?) albums once or twice and got bored. I don't recall it as being crap, more like really, really 'meh'.

Meh, "WF" of zero.

I dont' like this music and here is why. It is the most offensive kind of "Indie Rock." Let's call it, Commercialized Indie

(It's) the sound of Iron & Wine and Michael McDonald getting together to compare beards.

By the final track, “Beth/Rest,” there are keyboards straight out of a Phil Collins ballad, guitars that wouldn't sound out of place over a Top Gun sex scene, and saxophones, and it may occur to you that Vernon's voice can sound a great deal like Peter Cetera's.

It's kind of like when 80's pop music took over American Country music a few years back. Turn on any modern country station and what you'll hear is 80's rock being sold as Country.

Same thing here. This is not Indie rock. It's just packaged that way. If I want to listen to smooth music, call it what it is and put on, "Sailing, " by Christopher Cross. Bon Iver is Adult Contemporary

Bon Iver has a pretty big fan base of mostly women who run around doing thier little commercialized indie thing. It makes people who otherwise have terrible taste in music feel like they know something about music. The problem is that their litte darling indie bands are really Adult Contemporary.

Put Bon Iver up on the shelf with Iron and Wine, Arcade Fire, Wilco, Decemberists, and all the other, "Commercialized Indie." CRAP!

Now if you'll excuse me......
