Arcade Fire is one of those bands that almost feels like it is designed for teenage girls but then when you listen to it,

you get slapped in the face and realize its just damn good music

HAHAHA, when some bands break up they point loaded guns at each other or screw each others wives. The arcade fire "possibly" broke a viola in the shuffle. HaHaHa.

those pussies have never pulled guns on each other, they scratch, kick and slap at each other like hookers fighting over a corner
Fucking pathetic crybabies, that band
and their music is terrible as well, just complete shit

If you are talking guns being pulled on each other you are talking Aerosmith right before Joe Perry escaped, now that's the real shit right there

I know, it is wicked funny. Most bands like beat the crap out of each other, or set their members clothes on fire, or something like that when they want to break up.

Its like this band breaks a key on a xylophone or cracks a viola and ITS OVER!

To defend my friend, hes a wicked cool guy, a great musician, and his other bands are way better. This is probably why he left this band a while ago.

I should post his other band in the sendspace thread. One of my all-time favorite bands.

Anton Newcombe did have that loaded revolver just sitting on the pillow he was carrying around at a party in DiG! at least. Although I guess that isn't technically pulling it on anyone. I also remember a scene in that movie where he sent the Dandy Warhols shotgun shells with each of their names on them? I guess that wasn't inter-band argument.

The combination of "Aerosmith" and "real shit" in the same sentence is something I can get behind though.

Ha. Ha. Ha. Did you ever nail it.

I think this is actually my girlfriend's favorite album.

Which kind of disturbs me.

There are truckloads of better albums out there.

Still, though, not crap, although I really want to strangle that whiny lead singer dude on occasion.

At work last night I finally caught the trailer for "Where the Wild Things Are" and wondered what the hell song was being played over it - it kind of moved me. I left the auditorium thinking, "Wow, it looks like Spike Jonze won't ruin a beloved children's classic after all! I wonder what song that was, it's going to be stuck in my head all night."

It turns out it was this song by a band called the Arcade Fire. Before today the only thing I knew was that there was a band somewhere called the Arcade Fire and people seemed to like them - I had never heard a single song of theirs, even when constantly out and about at bars. I can certainly understand the hate if you were inexplicably saturated with them and insisted by anyone with a fucking pulse that you "have to listen to them". I'd be upset to, so I am kind of glad I managed to avoid this problem with my limited social circle and resistance to new music.

I'll buy Funeral someday, and I am sure it'll be a decent album. I'll give them a not crap just for evoking some emotion in me for a movie I desperately wanted to hate but now am keenly interested in.

I arrived late to this band because I hated the name and thought they were some pop/punk garbage on Fat Wreck or Epitaph or something. Last weekend my friend told me they were not what I thought so I checked them out. Derivative of much but likeable, they are. Neon Bible is quite good. I picked up both LP's yesterday (I'd never heard them before) and have been enjoying them. That one track on that one album sounds like Modest Mouse, but a good Modest Mouse song, so it's OK. My immediate though upon hearing them was "Echo and the Bunnymen." Not a bad thought.

Not crap.

The song "Cold Wind" on Six Feet Under made me think that maybe the Arcade Fire is pretty good.

I still dislike the whole "wacky voice" phenomenon that has been all too common throughout this decade, but I listened to the Funeral record again the other day and I have to say that five years later, it has withstood the test of time. In fact, I thought better of it now than when I first heard it. I think it will age gracefully.

EDIT: enframed, I thought I was bumping this thread out of nowhere. Creepy.

anyway, i'll give them an NC without getting ravey over them. i like what i've heard but they drifted off the playlist a couple of years back. time to dig them out again.
