I don't dislike cats but they are basically amusing moochers whereas dogs will live and die for mankind.
As I said, CATS...not so much

Philosophically and on paper, cats. In real life, dogs. I have both, and the dogs drive me more nuts.

Dogs though.

Cat whisperer = "because cats know better." (?)
PRF Vet = "...In real life, dogs.."

OK, so we're talking companion animals here, right? Therefore all the worker dog examples are totally invalid.

I like cats best as companions because their natural drive is to bury their excrement in sand to hide its odor, rather than to lay it out in the most public area possible to impress everyone. Also they are small, they don't meow just because the neighbor's cat is meowing, and their small sizes and retractable nails don't cause a great deal of discomfort when they flop on you.

That said, I love dogs too, albeit those with lazier, more catlike personalities. My friend's boxer mix and I spend many an hour bro'ing out each week.

You'd think that after 15 years that my cat would stop yelling at me while he's watching me open a can of food for him, but he's an idiot so he just keeps yelling. Anyone whose dogs annoy him hasn't trained his dogs well.

Some animals can be trained not to be food-motivated and some cannot. Cats and dogs both.

If we're talking about general superiority, cats easily. Great companions, smart, clean, low maintenance, and there lineage as predators is unfuckwithable.

If we're talking about servitude to humankind (that's a strange measure), dogs. Also great companions and smart.

Clean my ass. They piss and shit in boxes that we scoop out into our own stinking trash bins. They cough up furballs and puke up food, for us to come behind and clean up like little bitches. "Oh, lemme get that for you. No need to trouble yourself."
I'm sick off all domesticated pets though, so my attitude is bad. Dogs shed and slobber everywhere. They go outside to do their bidness, but bring back in twigs, leaves, and mud as a result.

I'm all about celebrating both (though I enjoy ribbing my cat-loving buddies for the species's drawbacks), just because of the whole "Animals in general are way cooler than most people" thing.

That being said, I love dogs so much more than cats. There's something about cats that kind of grosses me out. Dogs make me happy. Cats inspire ambivalence followed by light revulsion.

I'll still love on a kitty if one comes around, though. It can't help that it's kinda gross.
