Just picked up the new album over this weekend. I love it, actually. Everything just blends together so well, although it is really hard to make out Watt's bass.

I thought Iggy's vocals were particularly interesting- a couple of the tracks he sounds like David Bowie. The recording is excellent-no surprise there.

Still a solid band, solid players. Asheton's playing is incredible.

Salut!

Weirdly I thought the new album was a bit so-so, Idea of Fun and the title track being my favourites.
That was until I finally got the vinyl version and heard the extra tracks on it. Those four tracks seriously kick ass! Never thought I'd hear the Stooges covering the Beatles.
Also the Stooges are the greatest live band alive. (The Who in their heyday just pipped them but now half of them are dead.)

I was walking through a record store out here a couple of days ago to get a Sabbath album and they where blaring the Stooges.

Of course reminding me to pick up the Weridness since everyone I talked to about that record hated it or loved it.

I think it's a great rock/punk record. Some excellent cuts on that album. The way The Weridness's first track kicked in I was pretty pumped on it.

No argument ever could ever convince me to vote crap on the Stooges.

I bought Fun House when I was 13 and needless to say: I never looked back.

How is the Raw Power original mix remaster?

The photo of Iggy on the cover of Raw Power scared me off buying it when I was like 13 and didn't know shit about shit. Years later I ended up playing it obsessively for months. By now I've seen Iggy Pop a few times, and Asheton / Asheton / Mascis / Watt once, but never the Stooges, not yet.

You're a caution.

Raw Power is my favorite because it has the songs "Search and Destroy," "Gimme Danger," and "Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell," also known as three of the best rock songs, if not the three best.

And HOLY SHIT! They play one right after another.

EDIT: The title track kicks all sorts of ass too. Single piano note and all.

As in the Georgia Peaches live CD that's included with the Legacy Edition?

If so then yes, it's great. Better quality than a lot of Raw Power era bootlegs and you can hear Ron Asheton's bass playing very, very well which is always a good thing.

im not so interested in the second live disc i really want to hear the remastered bowie mix of the studio album.

I'd just buy the thing then since it sounds totally fine. Very comparable to the original issue of Raw Power that I have on vinyl. That second disc is also worth it, trust me.

Weird idea -- I love the original mix, but there's only so much a master chef can do with a bowl of shit. "Remastering" on a lot of these recordings = an attempt to sell people new copies of records they already have.

I dunno. The original CD didn't sound much different than the LP, uh... brah. If you're listening to MP3s (and I do all the time), who gives a fuck?

I downloaded the track "Search and Destroy" from the live disc the other day and I must say, the recording sounds totally awesome. You can tell from Ron Asheton's masterful bassing and James Williamson's flubby guitaring who wore the pants in that musical family.

maybe they are diehard velvets fans.

That crossed my mind too.
