I'm liking the new record. Vocals don't bother me. They sound nothing like Pentastar but I'm cool with them. It's still countrified but more distorted and some straight up metal riffs here and there. The vinyl packaging is nice and feels supple and soft. Strangest feeling record jacket I've ever held. I got a bronze pre-order version. The bonus track is awesome too.

The live show was outstanding. He does a thing, and he does it well.

The female vocals are even worse than Lanegan. And there are some middle-school poetry bloggers out there that are gonna be pissed that their lyrics got stolen for this record.

I like the vocals on "divine and bright" from one of the earlier Earth records, those really work for that song. every other Earth song with vocals I've heard so far, not so much...

I understand the criticisms of the first ML song but the second one is pretty awesome.

Also, again, Badgers Bane is also awesome. It's so weird and cool. I'm loving this record.

No I don't live in LA anymore. I've never seen them play either. Going to try to hit their Chicago show.

I'm still trying to figure out why the best song is only a bonus track on the LP.

Watched an interview with Carlson on the weekend where he said something like "I only ever had one good idea and I've never looked back." The idea: "play slowly and repeat yourself."

I really like the new record. That opening chug is worth the price of admission alone. Glad they've got a bit more "heaviness" on this one than their last few albums. The LP layout is beautiful, artwork is beautiful, recording sounds great. Into it.

Yeah, I finally got around to listening to it and it's not bad at all. Granted the Lanegan stuff is weak (but I've never really been a fan of him outside of the Trees). And since he's on like a third of the record, so that's a drag. But still its fucking Earth, I'm glad they're still at it.

Can I just name-drop for a second and say that one of my best friends plays on this record?!
He's not some big famous guitarist dude so it's a huge fucking deal for him.

Ok so if you missed Earth at the Bottle tonight and live in Chicago I feel very sad for you. It was fucking great. They played versions of The Bees Made Honey and Ouroboros is Broken that melted my fucking mind. Totally worth driving a total of 16 hours within a 48 hour period. Holy fucking shit. Adrienne Davis is an amazing drummer and I told her so after and she was very friendly and cool.

The Empty Bottle can eat a bag of dicks but fuck me that was an incredible show. I thanked Dylan after too. He was very gracious and cool. God damn I love being 41 and still blown away by bands. Wednesday it's Uncle Acid and Om on the 10th!

If only they spelled it "Earf". Think of the possibilities.
Just listened to Extra-Capsular Extraction the other day. NC for that alone.

Tried to give the new record another shot. The vocals are even worse than what I originally remembered.

What a fuckin' shame. That album could've been great as an instrumental.

The "deadddd-lay" guy sounds like he was noticed at a Starbucks for having a nose piercing and asked to sing on the album for that very reason.

I don't get how people can listen to death metal and black metal and hardcore and those genres Cookie Monster vocals yet have a problem with this record. Just don't focus on them. I think they sound fine and live the songs are great.
