sonny's vocals can kinda be irritating unless you're in the right mood, but they were damn awesome. almost a historical bridge between 6FS and the faint, but not ever really getting the popularity of either.

i really like this band.

thats so weird that you posted this. i've been listening to them pretty much nonstop for the past few days...

yeah. the vocals on some of the earlier stuff get annoying with all of the effects, but the later stuff they did is killer. the one seven inch w/ the flesh inside is so gooooooood.

not crap.

I orderd 21:51 after just hearing one song by them back when I was in highschool. I was looking for new music and stumbled upon the gold standard labs. that vss record blew me away. definitely on my music timeline of importance.

not crap.

wow wow wow! I really loved these guys, and I think the 21:51 album is far superior to anything any band member has been involved with since. Really great.

First time I met Sonny I booked a show for his band "Savalas".

Wasn't he involved in that one record distro collapsing?

I just recently walked out my job of three years, and the VSS guitarist used to come into it. We'd talk in the mornings (on his way to work) and he was pretty stoked I had actual VSS recordings, as some of them are hard to get currently, and had seen Pleasure Forever a few times. I asked about the forthcoming DVD, and he said he'd promise to bring the Nervous Circuits reissue (w/ DVD) when it came out.

For this, he got much free coffee.
However, wannabe-hipster-ex-co-worker decides that since I walked out of my job I no longer get this treat from this guy who she didn't want to fuck because she never heard his band before but it's free I'll take it type shit.

And I hugged her mother. Her retarded mother. Fuck.

I had no idea this was reissued with a DVD. Off to purchase it now!

Glad to see more people are into this great band. I love Sonny's vocals although I can see how they would irk you if you're not in the mood. They are definitely less irritating than Angel Hair can be however...

What all is on the DVD?

The DVD was indeed excellent. I wish I had gotten to see them live but I missed them in Atlanta the only time they made the trek this way.

I saw the VSS around '96 (give or take a year or so) in a U-Haul warehouse. It was the only time I ever saw them and I honestly don't remember much other than the lighting was low and the band was intense. I bought the 21:51 CD shortly thereafter and thought it was OK but didn't compare to the show. Definitely NOT CRAP as a band.

Bumping this. I have been listening to Nervous Circuits pretty much non-stop for a few days. This record was really important and more people should be listening to it! The 21:51 stuff is good too, but they did something amazing with Nervous Circuits.
