NOT CRAP, without a doubt.

I love the unusual twists and turns in their music - it's quite technical in places, but it still grooves. Awesome.

The two Tour Ep's are really uneven. Some really mind-blowing songs (Something Dark Against Something Light is the shit) and some dull ones. Not bad, just kind of generic.

The Nomeansmock thing is hilarious, but I don't think that I'm going to listen to those songs more than once.

My friend Nick wrote a zine piece on a Chicago show in '94 (two drummer tour) that you can read here. I like the note on the band's response.

I sent this story to the band and received in return a package with a CD, a band photo, and a letter from Mr. Wrong, typed (he rightly avoids the computer and other syndevs) in which he explained that he need not wash his hands as his urine is “as pure as mountain spring water”. I never doubted it.

That's what those are. I don't think I've ever seen a Parcheesi board.

And then there was this: http://soundcloud.com/deadbeat/nomeansn ... r-deadbeat
I was reminded of something Steve, I believe, wrote that I think applies: "It changes the meaning of music by changing its context and utility." Anyway, there's a 12" coming out soon with a bunch of these that others made. I like the haunting, isolated vocals, but the audio track itself is run of the mill. Not for me, but maybe you.

Can't stand remixes in general. Not interested in this at all. Oh well. I know they have new songs on the go, which sounded killer live last time they swung throuhg, so i'm sure that'll be coming soon.

I hear you. I've given the odd remix a spin here or there and found nothing but a total lack of ideas. Also, I hadn't planned on listening to this, but there it was so I listened. Rob is into electronic music, apparently, so I'm guessing that's how this came about. It just completely takes away from the power of the songs.

That new stuff, the 3rd EP, won't make it's way out for a little while, I'm guessing. They move slowly and are touring Europe a bit. But yeah, I'm excited to hear those tracks as well.

They're in Croatia right now. Lu, you going bro?

It's pretty fucked that you are more likely to ever see them than I am, but hey man I do not begrudge. It's just sad that NY and the northeast USA in general are not fucking CLAMORING for them.

They tour the US often enough, I thought. They come to LA but not New York? That ould be lame.

And absolute Not Crap for NoMeansNo. I basically play and listen to their music every day.

With large distances to cover between cities in which they draw well, it seems they're unwilling to trek out to the far east (NY, etc). It's costly and, frankly, Europe is easier. Even their last Madison gig didn't seem to be *that* well attended, unlike how it is usually. They're getting old, though, and I hope to see them one last time. I say that every year, but every time really does seem like the last show as time goes by.

They're in my top five all-timers, no doubt about it. I love everything they've released with Mr. Happy being my personal favorite. I wish they would reissue that one already.
