I read it. Lame? Well, there was a bit of info I was unaware of, but most of it was nothing new to me. The author writes from his own experiences with punk rock and NMN. Did I need to know about that stuff? No. A bunch of the direct quotes, say from Rob, are from other interviews (zines and whatnot). He did have access to people like Scott Henderson and other musicians friendly with the band, but I think Tom was the only one actually in NMN that he got responses from. Also, it's pretty thin. All that said, it's a book about NMN. They're my favorite band. I had to check it out.

Sad news. All the upcoming US West Coast dates got cancelled, thanks to the volatile US custom laws. They may be back in the US later this year. The 2 or 3(?) dates in B.C. are still happening, though.

From their Forum

a few of you are already aware, but unfortunately the US dates have been cancelled. The AFM (music union) policies changed and they were not approved for the dates so means their work visa to cross the border would not have been approved. There is going to be an effort to rebook dates later on this spring, although right now I think only Washington and Oregon are in the works.

They're going to reapply for a year long "P-1" visa which hopefully will alleviate this problem.

It is very expensive and getting very difficult for Canadian bands to enter the US to do any tours.

The band absolutely feels bad about having to pull the plug on this tour, but there simply weren't any options available to them.

The BC dates are not affected.

Playing rock music is like breathing for them.

Completely Not Crap. Still a fantastic band, and that they're still going and still making great music ups the awesome factor. Who voted crap and why do you choose to be wrong?

They win. Nomeansno wins rock-n-roll. We can all put our instruments down now.

One of my best friends who I play with has a late 70's Gibson RD bass. When the previous owner played with NomeansNo, he wanted to Rob to sign it. Either no one had a marker at the time, or Rob is just a bad ass, but in the end he put the headstock of that RD in his mouth and bit down really hard. So now Kyle owns a sweet RD bass that has Rob Wright's teethmarks in the headstock.

Not Crap.

This is one of my favorite stories. Was that when NomeansNo played here like 3 or 4 years ago? I was hanging out when I first heard this tale but was too busy drinking your beer and farting secretly on Duane's couch in his studio to remember all details.

Jason Beers from The Brannock Device among other bands sold that bass to Kyle a couple years ago. He was the one that owned it at the time. I don't know what show it was from, I'm guessing it was a while ago. I've only seen NomeansNo once and it was around 2000 in El Torreon.

I had no idea the version on the Sex Mad CD was a re-mix. The original is worth hearing:

Both 'Mama' and 'Wrong' were reissued on vinyl last year, if anyone is looking for either of those.
