I can see why they remixed it. There's some weird shit going on that version.
Particularly on Paradise.

I enjoyed the original mix, though I'd have to go back to the CD to have a verdict. I never cared much for Paradise anyway.

I've gone crazy go nuts with the vinyl reissues. Didn't really realize that they existed until this week. At Discogs, on a lot of them, you can find them at or near list price. I was able to find copies that were in the U.S, but it helps if you live in the UK or Europe, though.

"Love Thang" is a rager of a song. The other two are indeed duds.

This is one of my favorite stories. Was that when NomeansNo played here like 3 or 4 years ago? I was hanging out when I first heard this tale but was too busy drinking your beer and farting secretly on Duane's couch in his studio to remember all details.

I recently found out the Wright brothers are related to Caitlin from The Bad Ideas. She's originally from Canada and they are her Uncles. She told me about the time she sent them a copy of a recording her band did, and they tore it apart. I guess they have high expectations for their kin.

That is pretty insane. If I was in that position I would be bragging about my Uncles all the fucking time.

Weird to see Rob's bass looking so virgin and pristine. The first time I saw them in Dec. '93, it already looked beat to hell.

I've seen them a bunch, and even at their worst they are better than most bands. They don't re-hash "the hits," unafraid to try new ideas (that don't necessarily always work) on new albums. John Wright is one of my top 5 favorite drummers, Rob is funny and dynamic, Tom has been solid and great for years. Zero waffles whatsoever.

Drank some whiskey the other night and sent an email to Marc Maron trying to get him to get Rob Wright as a guest on WTF because, dammit, I have no shame (as well as the occasional overly-long commute).

This needs to happen. I really like Marc's interviews with musicians.

The only way that will ever happen is if you send him a nice vinyl copy of Greatest Nomeansno Record of All Time, - Which, BTW is still Wrong)- he listens to it, absolutely loves it, and he buys a bunch more. Otherwise, this is a pipe dream.

Pray he interviews Mark Trombino. (Guy gave Maron a copy of Yank Crime. Maron loved it. Maron found out that the drummer owned a donut shop down the street from his house. Hit said Donut Friend up on Twitter) Then it could happen. Given all the rest of that stuff happens as well. Zihuatanejo.

Not Bernardo, but...

The easiest, most digestible and best record is Wrong

If you are feeling ambitious, start with 0+2=1, Sex Mad/You Kill Me, or The Day Everything Became Isolated and Destroyed.

Don't start with Mama, One, or Dance of the Headlesss Bourgeoisie.

Mama is too early. Dance is a little too over the top and One is a little slow.

Fill in the rest as you see fit. That's Why They Call Me Mr. Happy is good. So is The Worldhood of the World (As Such.)

Like all great things, this will not be everyone's opinion...

Yeah, that's more or less how I went about it. I think the line up with Andy Kerr on guitar is largely superior to the other versions of the band, though. Since you already enjoyed a track from their first full length together you could simply go chronologically from where Kerr joined, saving Wrong for later on. I'm pretty sure that would mean:

You Kill Me EP
Sex Mad (Cd version includes the former EP with a different mix)
The Day Everything Became Nothing EP
Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed (CD version and current vinyl reissue both include the former EP)
Wrong (CD version and current vinyl reissue both include the following EP)
The Power of Positive Thinking EP

You can't lose with any of the above. Then, with Kerr in the band, you also have:

0+2=1 (the final full length with Kerr, a lot of people love this one, but I'm not crazy about it)
Live and Cuddly (scorching live album w/ this line up)
The Sky is Falling and I Want My Mommy (collaboration with Jello Biafra by this same line up)

Sans Kerr I find that the band loses a great deal of its manic edge. Mama and Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy are both pretty much duo full length records, but at very different points of their life (pre and post Kerr). Both have a very different vibe from the stuff I mentioned til this point.

Starting with The Worldhood of the World (as Such) Tom Holliston joins the band on guitar and the scratchy post punk vein of the Kerr years is replaced with a more straightforward punk rock slant, IMO. I didn't follow their progress after that record.
