For some reason these guys popped into my head.
Some of their riffs were kind of neat but for the most part they weren't that great.

I saw that Jerry Cantrell in a movie recently. I don't remember which one. He had three lines, maybe, and then that was that for Jerry Cantrell in that movie. He used to have some okay riffs (Bones?).

I sort of have a blind spot for this band. Jar of Flies is a decent EP. My adolescent youth is compelling me to vote not crap.

I agree, Jar of Flies is a pretty decent listen.

Most everything else is crap to me.

Not sure how to vote here...

That's got to be weird.

I liked about half of their stuff. I don't think there'll be much love for them on this board, though.

Saw them live touring for Dirt (which I like), no energy whatsoever.

I made my own AIC shirt when I was younger.

It was a pretty rad shirt.

Crap for AIC.

Crap with 1WF for the shirt.

That record with 'Them Bones' on it was NOT CRAP.

Probably the the least CRAP of the grunge bands.

that's a hard one. they had some great moments (like some tracks on dirt, jar of flies in general) but also some toally crappy ones. plus tons of medicore metalish rocking that doesn't rock me at all. i give them NC with high waffles. "best of grunge bands"? you mean, better than mudhoney? fuck, no.

The only grunge era band that I occasionaly listen to.

Dam that River and Rooster off Dirt are oddly appealing.

Jar of Flies is good front to back.

Aren't they auditioning Layne's replacement for a reunion tour?

I offer my humble services...

this job is already taken, and i think they are touring now, or will go on tour very soon. which is so pathetic i want to change my vote.

Ditto on all that. Cantrell wrote some great riffs.

But yeah, there were 5 turds for every gem.

NOT CRAP just because the few of their songs I dig, I really dig. So an enormous WF on that one.

not crap. my favorite of the grunge bands (though i've only heard 2 mudhoney songs, but i didn't like them). i think layne staley pulls off a singing style that basically no one else pulls off. it's sad that he died and more sad that they are replacing him and playing at casinos. fuck those guys for doing that.

this is going to sound silly but i like, or liked, a looooot of their songs. most of the dirt album, most of jar of flies, the song man in a box, even most of the album with the three legged dog on the cover. i don't care.

Crap. Alice In Chains encouraged more teenagers to sing like David Clayton-Thomas.

Yeah, but Pearl Jam encouraged more teenagers to sing like Adam Clayton Powell.

this is a bad route to argue.

ABBA is better than Soundgarden.
Heart is better than Soundgarden.

many bands are better than soundgarden.

even Alice in Chains.
