Ok, I used the search function three times and couldnt find any previous poll. That seems odd though cuz you'd think they'd have cropped up at some point.

Anyway, I started listening to them a few months back, now I listen to them every day. I only have Murder Ballads, Boatmans Call, and "the Best of" so far.

Probably one of my top 5 bands of all time. And if you just started listening to them, wait until you see them live, it is an amazing experience.
Check out:
Tender Prey.
Your Funeral My Trial.
Live Seeds (a live album that is better than a best of)
Let Love In.

Also for if you get interested the early versions of the same band can be found as Boys Next Door (made one album) and The Birthday Party (made four albums, plus one live and one BBC sessions). A bit more brutal and raw, but i love it.

NOT CRAP.

Not Crap. I like them and they are indeed excellent live. I can defintely see why people don't like them or why they prefer the early stuff/B.Prty, but I have enjoyed the last couple albums.

Has anyone heard that Die Haut re-issue?

I liked it a lot, but like with everything Die Haut it is a bit uneven, but good.
And I agree, all my favourite Bad Seeds album are older ones, but I still really like the newer stuff, and the new one (coming next week) sounds really good from the few songs i have heard.

"Papa Won't Leave You, Henry" off of Live Seeds is a exceptional example of a song.

Man that thing roars.

Bump. It's been well over a year now and I still listen to Nick Cave every day. Currently I'm enamoured with Let Love In (esp. lay me low).

I think the only album I dont have is Your Funeral, My Trial.

Exactly how I'd list 'em! An expensive habit, but so very not crap.

Nick Cave put a fake tattoo on me once. I'm 5'4" on a tall day and we were eye to eye. He is the Napolean of rock n' roll.

Without a doubt one of the finest artists of our generation, and the best dancer I have ever seen.

Definitely NOT CRAP.
"The Firstborn is Dead" is my favourite album of theirs.
Up to Let Love In every album is great. After that point, things change a little bit, but Nick Cave is still one of the best artists around.

Not Crap.

I like Birthday Party a lot more. His voice can be a little overbearing in the later stuff. I did just get the 3 CD b-sides and rarities. It's f'ing awesome. Highly Recommended.

I love it when Nick does that weird thing with his voice where he gets all nasally and intense (usually reserved for strange verse-endings....)

What a weirdo.

NOT CRAP (even when crappy).

seconded.

not seconded. boatman's call is so so beautiful...except for "green eyes" and "black hair."

oh, and "there is a kingdom" can take a walk too.

i owned everything by them up until "no more shall we part." i love the early stuff more than the later stuff. i have a sneaking suspicion he wants to be leonard cohen.

either way, not crap.

and if ya get a chance check out the videos. they're hilarious.

Henry's Dream is one of greatest albums i own.

I listen to it once a week. She is no crap this nick of cave with his aussie
leonard cohen aspirations! at least his name ain't bruce.

also, "Janglin' Jack" is the closest Mr.Cave has come to the Birthday Party
since the b-day party.
also, also, Nick cave covering beatles songs is wrong. just fucking
re-godamn-diculous.

Nick Cave, like Dylan or Neil Young, is one of the few artists of an epochal era who has remained relevant through subsequent decades. For instance, The Birthday Party were nearly as good as The Stooges, yet Cave somehow made a smooth transition into adulthood while Iggy has been floundering since New Values. I can't think of any punk-era artist who has aged more gracefully, and I don't know of any Louisville musician over the age of 30 for whom Cave wasn't a huge formative influence.

Thanks to this damn poll, I've had to go and pull out my Nick Cave records and give them a new listen because it had been a while since I've listened to him. I almost want to say that I like this stuff more than The Birthday Party.
