Starship Troopers is the best film here by some distance. A $100m B-movie full of deathless lines.

I was all about Total Recall when I was a kid. Blew my mind.

Not sure that Robocop is very sci-fi, other than the conceit of a guy being half robot. Still the most enjoyable of the three, from what I recall.

Minor points to ST for the Denise Richards.

Anyone else here introduced to Starship Troopers in the 70s by the Avalon Hill game of the same name? No? OK, I'll go back to Dorkland.

All excellent films. But Troopers wins for being a dead-on satire of events that wouldn't happen till half a decade after it was released.

Watch Robo-Cop again. The news clips are just like Fox News. Dead on.
It still remains to be seen what shit Total Recall got right.

All brilliant. Had to decide but I watch Starship Troopers a few times a year so that's my vote.

Has anyone seen Part 2 or 3 or 4? Are they worth it?

Troopers is brilliant satire. I don't remember shit about Robocop (wait, did i ever even see it?), so Troopers wins by a mile for me.

Total Recall is definitely the most quotable though. "DAHMMIT COHAGEN! GIVE DA PEEPOH AIWR! LET DEM BWEEVE!"

I want to vote Starship Troopers but I feel that I have to revist Total Recall to be sure.

I watched Robocop the other week and while it had its moments, I could not get into it like I can with ST.

I got dumped in the middle of watching/making-out to Starship Troopers

I puked in the movie theater from downing a fifth of Jack Daniel's for my 18th birthday during Robocop

Nothing humiliating happened when I first saw Total Recall so I vote Verhoeven.

Man hard call...

I love all three movies but ST never really sat well with me because the book is so much better it just makes the movie that much more disappointing...

The Criterion edition of Robocop is absurd. The shooting scene at the beginning is beyond ridiculous violence. I'm not sure what the Criterion edition really adds to the story other than outrageous gore and violence though.

Total Recall is also great and it's one of those movies I'll watch whenever I see it on TV but I can't stand Arnold. Over the years it's just gotten harder and harder to watch a movie with him in it.

I'll pretty much say it's a toss up for me, I really can't vote/pick a favorite.

what happened to you Somnambulist, you used to be someone I could trust.

Robocop is the most violent, quotable, and best of the three. And it has ED209- case closed.

It took me a minute to realize these were all Verhoeven movies, I guess I didn't read the post very well. I rank them in the order they were released:

Recall
Troopers

I'm going to say Starship Troopers, because it came out when I was eight, and had boobies and people being dismembered.

And at that age, does a growing boy want anything else?
