Funny article. Only problem is, the mock Bon Iver song they did for the article is actually not even close to capturing the shittiness of the real thing itself.

How authentically, sensitively heartfelt do these strummers feel when they're getting sucked off by the third different girl that month? This is the question which without fail crosses my mind.

So great.

Though, one minor caveat. You do reach a certain point where every new person reminds you of the one you can't have. However, I feel like this has been adequately covered in popular music to not need further extrapolation. Certainly as a gender we don't really deserve being given more excuses. Grass greener, rush of blood from head to penis. Repeat Ad nauseum. Bleh.

To be fair, I saw you like Tim Kinsella and I wouldn't put a title like that past him.

The lyrics are hilarious though.

A guy I went to school with plays music which is a cross between Bon Iver and Tracy Chapman which makes Bon Iver sound good.

I don't think that's quite in the realm of Kinsella. As far as I remember his album titles are occasionally amusing (though his song-titles can be rubbish). For example, his extraordinarily embarrassing divorce album was called Boo Human ("Boo Hoo, Man"). That still makes me laugh a little.

There was also a studio album called Joan of Arc Live in Chicago 1999. ("Live" rhymes with "Give"). Additionally, his first solo record (later re-branded as a Joan of Arc album) was called So Much For Staying Alive!

That record also had a song called 'The Tell-Tale Penis'.

Come on, that's much funnier than somebody calling their break-up album For Emma, Forever Ago.

Two of his songs are great. Perth, 1st one on new lp, and stacks from one prior.

There was a review in the Sunday Times last week of his new album, but it talked about the recording of his last album for almost all of it, with two lines at the end mentioning one song on the new album proving that the album must be good. Five stars.

They seem to keep outdoing themselves with stuff like this. Now it's "brave" and "drawing a line in the sand" to sound like Richard Marx and Bruce Hornsby.

Pitchfork and Bon Iver deserve each other, let's put it that way.

Boo Human was cringe inducingly bad and one of my favourite records of that year.

B) Naked "get a load of the shit they're feeding us now" linkbait?
C) Exhibit #1 why Pitchfork doesn't have online commenting?

Just found out his new record has songs called "Perth" (aka the city I grew up in) and "Calgary" (aka the nearest city to where I live right now) on it. This would be pretty cool if both of the songs weren't nigh-unlistenable. This guy's voice, what the fuck is up with that.

Also accordng to Mr Iver "Perth" is "a Civil War-sounding heavy metal song. It’s sort of chaotic, dense, jarring", which, no, it's really not any of those things, and as a fan of actual heavy metal, Civil-War inspired music, and chaotic, dense, and jarring music, shits me all mightily and makes me wonder what kind of pastel-coloured fucking bubble-world this asshole lives in where he considers a song like "Perth" dense or jarring.

I just read the review and it's okay. I realised that if they didn't use a numerical system, I probably wouldn't blink at this article at all. I mean, I doubt I like this record but the review isn't badly written. It's okay.
