Hahaha! They should just turn it into a dollar store or something else. It's been a shit show for so long, no one wants to eat there.
kerble is right.

I've seen 'cursed locations' turned around by the right people. But those aren't the type of people who think "an internationally themed sports bar with a monthly changing menu" is a great idea. I wonder what great concept' they'll come up with next: maybe a kid-friendly atmosphere with 'elevated' Irish cuisine? An Italian bistro meets sushi bar, those are both popular, right?

A Golden Corral would probably do pretty well.

Old Country Buffet, Applebee's, T.G.I.F., yeah. Something recognizable might work in the space.
I'd still never go, but people might.

Irish Pub-Szechuan-Mexican fusion:

Fermented beancurd & corned beef tacos

Pork maw and cabbage pupusas (to go for an Ecuadoran bent)

Yeah. It'll never be an awesome independent restaurant because it's a big, expensive corner location in an already saturated area. But as an affordable family food trough, it could work.

They should rename it Fwa Grah O'Cirrhosis and make it an Irish-themed sports bar where they force feed large amounts of really fatty food directly into your stomach until you have a diseased liver.

Yeah. Maybe they can have a 'contest' with Borellis to see who can have less customers on a Saturday night..

This glorious chain of information should really have a trigger warning. At a bar in Milan and I had to stop myself from reading the whole thing yet again. Do not go quietly into that dark thread, buddy. I had a flashback to playing Wii baseball with my brother there this time before I stopped myself...

Part of the curse of that corner seems to be not a "somebody strangled an indian chief to death and pissed on his corpse in this very spot" kind of curse, but rather a curse of thinking that something that would go over successfully in Crystal Lake or Elburn would go over as well in Lincoln Square.
