Many basement nights have I spent leaping, air-guitaring, all that stuff from which I normally refrain, all while listening to this Raw Power record, so loud! The negation of crap is this album.

This being said, the above quote puts a bit of a smile on my face. It seems, to me, a display of balls. Salut, stooges! Your first two albums were better, anyways!

Look at it this way: "The Stooges" and "Funhouse" were made by the Stooges.

"Raw Power" was made by Iggy and the Stooges.

This is a Stooges reunion (with a new bassist).

another newspaper interviewed this time Iggy (the stooges are playing in 2 weeks here )

http://www.clarin.com/suplementos/si/20 ... 267134.htm

there's some interesting quote:

–¿Por qué eligieron a Steve Albini para grabar el disco?

–Fue idea de Ron. Acepté porque Steve no se llama a si mismo "productor" ni tampoco quiere participar de tus ganancias (risas). Es muy extremo y eficiente: él dice que es como un plomero. Además, grabó discos como "In Utero" (Nirvana).

–Además es especialista en grabar baterías...

–Man...¡los tambores lo son todo! Dice que aprendió a escucharlos de un disco nuestro, "Funhouse", así que hay un feedback...

-Why did you choose Steve Albini for the recording of this new album ?

-It was Ron's idea. I agreed because Steve doesn't want to call himself a "producer" and doesn't want to take credit on your royalties (laughs). He is very extreme and efficient: he says he is more like a roadie. Besides he recorded albums such as In Utero

-And he is a very good at recording drums ....

-Man ... the drums are everything! He says he learnt it from "Funhouse", so there is a feedback ...

wow man The Stooges were awesome ! Iggy is a great showman, all the show he kept running and jumping and dancing. He's great and his voice sounds terrific. Ron, god, what a guitar player, the sound everything. Scott. how old is he ? 58 ? 59 ? 60? he must be the best drummer at that age. And what to say about Mike Watt, one of the best bass players ever. They started with Loose and then Down in The Street. And Iggy crowdsurfed into the audience TWICE ! and everyone was spitting at him. That was fun to see. I like his schtick.

fuckin rock and roll music.

How are the recent CD remasters of the first two albums?

From last year. There's a full, nine minute version of Ann on the self titled deluxe edition. Worth it for that track alone, imo.

Of the four people to have voted crap, I expect one was a mistake, one was by that guy Matthew, and one was some other ass trying to be "different" and controversial. Which leaves perhaps one vote by someone who actually thinks The Stooges are not a good band. Which makes me very, very uncomfortable.

And they haven't spoken up about it! This is like coming back to your car and finding the windows smashed: you're angry, but there's nowhere to direct your anger. Go to hell now, you guy who voted crap on The Stooges! Go to hell and kiss Kenny Loggins with tongues, while his records play in the background! For the rest of time!

I got Fun House and Marquee Moon in the same purchase, my intro to both bands. Needless to say, I wore out Fun House before FINALLY giving Television a listen. You can dance to Fun House ('Down on the Street'). Not so much with Raw Power, though I love it.
