best of CCR: hideaway, walk the water, just a thought, wrote a song for everyone, someday never comes, long as i can see the light, lodi.

best of VU: some cerebral drone stuff, and some really mellow falling-asleep songs (candy says, pale blue eyes).

notable effort on the part of VU, but CCR wins.

I composed and produced the album California is Cold by Shahmen. Check out the video we just put out for the song Poison.

Goddamn you.

Can't decide.

Equally brilliant in far different ways.

the Velvets were possibly the most influential album band ever.

CCR were possibly the greatest singles band ever.

Dammit.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

In the someday, what's that sound.

Myself, I take CCR because I got into them very young. I was 9 when my dad sat me down and broke out Cosmo's Factory and Pendelum and basically said, "put these in your room and listen to them." Which I did, all the fucking time.
VU didn't happen for me until I was 19. And I suppose they just aren't as pure, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I could not do without either of them.

This is another good Thunderdome; these are the two best American bands of the late '60s / early '70s.

John Fogerty could write some great rock songs. And CCR could play the fuck out of them.

But there is nothing in the CCR catalog as noisy as "I Heard Her Call My Name" or "Sister Ray", or as quiet and moving as "Pale Blue Eyes" or "Jesus".

Velvets.

You've got me there Nico. I forgot about The Stooges but I'd rank MC5 below CCR, VU and The Stooges.

The MC5 are nowhere near the same class of rock band as CCR, the VU, and the Stooges.

Your musical taste is nowhere near the same class as mine.

Bayou Country is a great place to start with CCR, the opening track is stunning and fierce.

Tough to choose, I like 'em both.

I don't understand the fascination with John Fogerty and the band. VU was a million times better.

For who? People that can't get enough southern rock?

CCR wrote good short songs, but there's no comparison against VU.

I like CCR, but it's an easy VU for me.
