This is a Altec 436 which was modified to be as close to an EMI RS 124 as we could get.
Not in the stock photo, there’s a variable release, and output attenuator. We found it sounds best when working slowly and modestly. Not a general-purpose compressor, but nice on crooning vocalists, bass, and other slowly-modulating sounds.
